SOURCE: Brown spots coming from steam iron

you can mix 50% water with 50% vinager let it set in the iron overnight then turn it on and let the steam run out. What happens is the inside of the iron where the water is had corroded or rusted or has lime deposits.the vinager will break this loose overnight.also after you let the iron steam out all the mixture, flush the iron 4 to 5 times and start using fresh water from a store bought gallon.your tap water is probably full of iron.

SOURCE: Brown spots coming from steam iron

Fill with 50/50 water vinegar solution. Get it good and hot and let it sit for two hours. Rinse and repeat if necessary. Buy a gallon of water from the market and use that from now on. This will fix your problem. The Iron is concentrating the iron in you water and this is what is causing the brown spots. Hope you find this helpful. If you do please take the time to rate it fixya and maybe I will keep helping people for free.

SOURCE: steam gauge is broken and iron will not produce steam

http://www.fixitclub.com/Parts_Components/Appliance_Controls.shtml click the link  Maintenance and repair tools you'll need to fix an electric iron include these:

  • Screwdrivers
  • Toothpicks or pipe cleaners
  • Sewing needle
  • Commercial electric iron cleaning solution or vinegar and water
  • Commercial soleplate cleaner or baking soda and water
  • Steel wool
  • Emery cloth
  • Metal cooking pot
you will need a speacial tool screw driver  also called as g5 screw driver to open it.available at local repair store. If the iron doesn't heat, make sure power is on to the outlet, check the electrical cord, and check the thermostat (see the Appliance Controls Fix-It Guide) and replace if necessary.
If the iron heats but steams improperly, inspect the soleplate and clean the vents (see below) and flush sediment out of the steam chamber (see below).
If the iron produces too much or too little heat, test the electrical cord . Also test and, if needed, adjust calibration of the thermostat (see the Appliance Controls Fix-It Guide).
If the iron does not spray properly, inspect and clean the nozzle (see below).
If the iron leaks or spits, clean the steam vents, nozzle, and tank.
If the iron sticks to fabric, clean or repair the soleplate. If the iron stains fabric, clean the soleplate, clean the tank with a commercial cleaner, and use distilled or filtered water.

SOURCE: i have a hinari steam generator iron and the steam

Check the water reservoir of the steam generator and look for some hairline cracks. Also a clogged tubing will likely to go back water on reservoir inlet water pouring. Once you found the cracks, seal it with epoxy just enough to fill the cracks.
Thanks for asking.

SOURCE: Bosch Sensixx B25L

see the instruction from your manual:
Check the owner's manual for your iron to learn the manufacturer's suggestions for cleaning, what water to use, and storage tips.
Soft-water systems add minerals that can harm an electric steam iron and your clothes so don't fill the iron with softened water. Instead, use filtered or distilled water.
2) if the iron does not heat a( test the power cord for open or defective b) and thermostat for adjust c) test the thermal fuse d) test the heating element for open.
God bless you

Need to disassemble the Phoenix Gold Model LB-113 Steam Iron. All the visible screws out, but cannot access upper handle to check steam switch. Iron is little over one year old.

I am not familiar with the model but I have dismantled a fair number of steam irons - manufacturers are invariably devious in hiding the screws and generally the more modern the iron the fewer are the screws.
Over the years I have needed to prise off various pieces of trim to reveal screws - commonly there has been one revealed by removing the temperature control knob.

The last one was held together by only two screws accessed after removing the rear terminal cover. The cable had to be removed and the terminal screws - then the rear of the upper shell would lift far enough to clear all obstructions and be pushed forward to release the front and then lifted clear.

Hi Ihave a Bosch B25L steam generator iron and it has stopped steaming completely. Any ideas?

Yousaf/Tony, Either the switch is defective or the heat element has gone bad, probably not cost effective to repair.

Tefal Pro Express - Constant Steam

Found this on another site and just tried it. Put 50/50 water and vinegar in the tank and leave it to go through on the constant steam. Give it about 5 minutes then try the button. Mine gave an extra spurt of steam at this point but still continued giving steam out all the time. I refilled with the water vinegar mix and just kept pressing the steam button and letting it go through. Eventually it fixed it and the constant steam stopped. Something to do with a piece of limescale blocking the solenoid but that's all Greek to me! Hope this helps. Kind regards.

My iron doesn't steam up anymore

Time for a new iron. I last one went to the iron graveyard and I then spent $150.00 on the top of the range Phillips with the gold plate. Has cut my ironing down to a 1/4 of the time. Well worth it
