Can anyone with a RH1777 help me finalise my dvd blank disk with his/her recorder?

If you can't find someone with the same recorder you could try putting the DVD into a computer DVD drive. It might be possible to get the video files off the DVD. DVD files are called VOB. You can get free software that will play them. It might even rip the files from the disc for you. You can then transfer them to a DVD disc using the computer.

I CAN NOT TRANSFER FROM THE CAM TO COMPUTER I HAVE WINDOWS XP PROFESSIONAL AND MY COMPUTER SAYS THAT THE FORMAT ON DVD IS NOT SUPPORTED

Hi,

There are three ways of transferring the videos from the Camcorder to the Computer. One is by using the Picture Motion Browser Software, other by using the A/V, USB cable after finalizing the disc in the Camcorder and finally using the DVD-ROM Drive in the Computer after finalizing the disc. If you're trying to transfer using the 2nd and 3rd option, the the disc in the Camcorder should be finalized.

Also make sure that the disc is formatted in DVD-Video mode instead of DVD-VR mode. VR mode recorded discs can only be played back using a VR Compatible Software/Player or in the same Camcorder. DVD-Video mode recording will help you in playing the discs in all the Players and DVD Viewing Software.

I always recommend transferring the videos to the Computer using the supplied PMB Software.

Please check transferring steps and information from the link given below:

Panasonic DMR E55 Won't record AT&T U-Verse programs!

Make sure you only use the correct type of discs: DVD-RAM or DVD-R for recording and DVD-RAM, DVD-R, DVD-Video, DVD-Audio, Video CD, CD-Audio (CD-DA) and CD-R/RW (MP3, CD-DA, Video CD formatted discs) for playback.

DVD-RAM disks are in plentiful supply on eBay, both new and used. Keep an eye open and you should pick them up, new, for less than £1 Sterling each!

I am unclear, though, what you mean about recording to and from the VCR. The DMR-E55 doesn't have a VCR facility, just DVD.

Zenith xbr411 DVD recorder

See the manual, page 8:

What are “Recording modes”? for DVD-RW
There are two recording modes available using this
recorder: VR mode and Video mode. When recording to
a DVD-R disc, recordings are always in Video mode.
DVD-RW discs can be formatted for VR mode recording
or Video mode recording.
VR mode recording
• 4 different picture quality/recording time settings available
(SP, LP, EP, XP)
• Not playable on regular DVD players
• Recordings can be extensively edited
• Total number of titles on the disc should be less than
99.
Video mode recording
• 4 different picture quality/recording time settings available
(SP, LP, EP, XP)
• Playable on regular DVD players (after finalizing)
• Limited editing features
• Total number of titles on the disc should be less than
99.
Note :
DVD-Video Format (Video mode) is a new format for
recording on DVD-R/RW discs that was approved by
the DVD Forum in 2000. You may therefore experience
problems playing recordable DVD discs in some players.
Symptoms include video artifacts, audio and/or
video dropouts and playback suddenly stopping.
Our company cannot take responsibility for problems
playing discs recorded on this VCR/DVD Recorder in
other players.
