SOURCE: AVR 810 Denon Receiver Sub Woofer Hookup?

Denon AVR-810 was a quite out-dated model. I had owned since 1992. It shown 'Protection' on the screen for 2 months ago and not yet been fixed. Better to replace a modern one or repair it at a reasonable costs.

SOURCE: speaker connection from Denon AVR 2105 to Wharfedale suround

The spkrs sound like they are bi-amp spkrs, meaning you have multiple terminals on the backs of each spkr, the jumpers on the spkrs should be connected as such. Now you just connect the spkrs according to the Denon spkr conection diagram. Do not use the surround back unless you have 6 or 7 pair of spkrs

SOURCE: connecting 2 sub woofers to denon 1506 receiver

Most receivers only handle one sub at a time. If you are deadset on connecting two, you might want to consider how much power your receiver will give to each if you split the signal then determine the power of each sub. If the subs aren't the same you can be sure they will sound strange.

If they are identical and your receiver has enough power to handle them both, examine the connection the subs use to connect to the receiver and split the connection by buying a splitter at a local radioshack.

You will probably be better off using the better of the two subs instead of having both connected. Your sound quality will be more balanced and clear when it comes to bass.

SOURCE: Home theater system protection kicks out

Nice write-up.

http://www.sherwoodusa.com/pdf/RD-6500(English).pdf

On page 6 of the manual it states you should use a powered subwoofer and the unit provides a sub output on the rear panel for it. The message from the amp kicking out is that you're not going to get away with your workaround.

I would advise you to purchase a nice amplifier (2-channel bridgeable or single channel) for the subwoofer. That way you'd be sending only LFE signals and your receiver has provisions for adjusting its volume relative to the rest of the channels. I use a nice 5-channel Carver for my 3 subs and both Rear Surrounds.

On eBay I see what I would get if I were you - a Carver M-200T (120W x2; 300W bridged). I have one.

Yamaha rx-v2500 receiver how to hook up speakers

HI,

Follow these steps to connect a powered sub woofer to your receiver: You typically have two options when connecting a powered sub woofer. Input (1) on the rear of the sub woofer would be used when connecting the sub woofer to the receiver using speaker wires. You would then connect the main speakers to the opposite end, or output or the sub woofer to the main speakers. Option (2) would be using RCA line level output jacks, input (2) on the rear panel of the sub woofer directly to the single sub woofer output on the back of an AV receiver. blank.gif

Which model sub woofer can replace JVC SP-PW100?

The simplest thing would be a like-for-like replacement. Ebay or Craigslist would be good sources if the sub is out of production. There's one listed on Ebay UK for 39 sterilng. Item number 171423774447 - ends 16th Sept 2014

For new replacements the answer depends partly on how you connect and then partly on where you live. I'll deal with connections first...

The JVC has both high-level -speaker cable sockets- and low-level -phono/RCA- connections. Budget subs with both sets are getting rarer in the UK.

If you are connecting from an AV receiver with the low-level phono cable then the Tannoy SFX sub would do quite nicely. It's 99 sterilng at Richersounds.

For a sub with high and low level connections then the Wharfedale Diamond sub is about the cheapest in wide distribution. 170 sterilng at Tesco, 150 sterilng as an open box special at Superfi. Personally though, if I were considering spending 150+ on a sub I'd go the extra mile and plump for the BK Gemini at 215 sterilng direct from the manufacturer. You're getting 300+ sterilng performance because they cut out the middleman.

If you live in the US then there's a bit more choice. Have a look at Bestbuy. The Pioneer SW 8mk2 isn't bad at 159 dollars. There's the Theater Solutions SUB6F at 88 dollars if you just want cheap. Respected speakers brand Polk has the PSW 108 at 199 dollars

Please tell me all the connections on movie star 60+

Each of the five satellite speakers connect directly to an AV Receiver that you buy a separate device.

Here's the back of the sub. The sub either connects to the LFE Sub Out from the receiver to the white RCA/Phono Left Input. Or you can use speaker connection cables, AV Receiver front L & R to Speaker Level Inputs, and then Speaker Level Outputs to the front satellite speakers.

How to hookup

hi,
if u want to hook up the sub with ur av receiver the connect the sub woofer output of ur AVR to any one (left or right) input of ur sub woofer. then connect its power . set the frequency range between 90 and 120Hz. set the volume of sub woofer to 40% of its total. also check the av receives speaker setting. goto speaker setup and make ON the sub woofer out.

if want to connect the sub to a stereo amp without sub out. then connect the amps speaker line to the speaker input of sub woofer and connect the speaker out of sub to left and right speaker ( make sure to connect the red to red and black to black). set the volume and frequency as above
ok

YAMAHA AV receiver RX-V861 I have the message 'Vol-fix' appearing on Zone 2 and no sound. This was working fine until then

Setting the RX-V861 remote control to operate Zone 2:
  1. Using a ballpoint pen or similar object and press the [CODE SET] button RX-V861 remote control. The[TRANSMIT INDICATOR]on the remote should flash twice.
  2. Using the [NUMERICAL KEY PAD] on the remote and key in 9992, the [TRANSMIT INDICATOR] should flash.
Assigning the receivers internal amp for Zone 2:
  1. Set the remote control selector to [AMP]. (Located to the right of the volume buttons on the Remote.).
  2. Press the [SET MENU]button on the remote control.
  3. Arrow down to Manual Setup and press the Enter button on the remote control.
  4. Arrow to the [SOUND MENU] option and press the [ENTER] button on the remote control.
  5. Arrow to Speaker Set and press the [ENTER] button on the remote control.
  6. Arrow to the EXTRA SP ASSIGN and select ZONE2
  7. Press the [RETURN] button on the remote control to exit out and return to the Manual Setup.
NOTES: There is an option for setting the Maximum Volume and Initial Volume in the Zone Set menu.
  • Max Volume: This is an optional feature but isrecommended to prevent the accidental change in volume levels thatcould damage the speakers and receiver.
  • Initial Volume: This is also a great feature that would seamlessly start the volume level for the second or third zone at the desired level.
We do not recommend using any Speaker Selector boxes to enable more than the recommended number of speakers per terminal.
Controlling Zone 2 using the RX-V861 remote control:
  1. If the Main Zone on the receiver is on, press the [POWER BUTTON]down and while holding that button down press the [PHONO]/[**] button on the remote. The [TRANSMIT INDICATOR] will light up.
  2. You will not be able to use the following buttons on the remote: (Pressing any other button will cause the remote to exit Zone 2 mode. [POWER], [STANDBY], [VOLUME], [MUTE] and the [INPUT SELECTOR] buttons [DVD], [CD], etc.)

Connection of a subwoofer to Yamaha ZX-V490

Get a powered sub-woofer that has speaker level inputs, then run your front speaker wires into the sub-woofers speaker level input and then run a set of speaker wires from the sub-woofers speaker wire output to your front speakers. This is a common way to use a sub-woofer with a receiver that doesn't have a sub-woofer output.

Most powered sub-woofers have these connections, just check it out first before you buy one. They look like speaker jacks on the back of the receiver.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
