Not recommended. The case would have to be modified to accommodate more cells, the circuit board inside the battery casing may not function properly, and unless you have a commercial dual pulse welder working with Li-ion could ignite. Save time and money and pick up an extended battery such as this one : http://tinyurl.com/pxcpqv9
batteries from electronic equipment if not a solid battery but several in a screwed case can be replaced but only by a battery shop specialising in the replacement as the cells are welded together and if the wrong method is used then the batteries will explode Find a local battery shop that specialises in battery pack replacement.
The problem is with the battery, the battery is been shorted, perhaps, due to power surge, the problem is not with the charger, to confirm this, if you remove the battery and plug in the charger to your notebook, you will see that it will still work, all you need do now is to get a replacement battery, because there is nothing you can do other than getting a new battery. Once you fix the battery, the problem is fix.
You more than likely need a New Battery. Before you buy a new one, I suggest that you check the Battery Recall List on your Laptops Manufacturer's Website. If it is a Recall Item, they will replace it for free. Lucky4lynn2 :) please rate me, ok?
toshiba batteries, not all .. but many just have problems ...
try this ...
pop the battery out ... and plug in the ac w/o the battery in place ...
if this works .. you need a new battery ...
otherwise .. try another battery ( same model , of course )
if this works ... you need a new battery
look up your battery on toshiba and/or sony's website (battery recall program)
that's all i can think of right now .. let me know if any of this helps
