How do I enter a lock pin on my Garmin nuvi 57.

My old Garmin had a security pin that must be entered when the unit was not at the Home location. Can't find that feature on my new Nuvi57.

The PIN is an optional feature which should not pop up if the unit is brand new.  If you got it used, get the PIN from whoever sold it to you.

do the math, there are only 10,000 different possibilites with a 4 digit pin code with numbers ranging from 0-9. I have the same problem. going through just like that. it will eventually unlock.

The only options you have when it comes to a locked unit is to enter the correct PIN, go to the location where the PIN was set, or send the unit back to Garmin. There is no way to unlock a PIN locked unit without the correct PIN or location.

Sorry but there is no master reset. If it was a gift, tell whoever bought it for you what happened and let them exchange it for you. If it has a security code on it, that means someone else had it before you. New units do not come from the factory with a PIN.

I have had success in unlocking Nuvi's but I will only do it for people who have a valid purchase receipt from a major retail chain and if they can provide me with their Garmin registration info so I can verify that they are the rightful owner.

There are too many of these units out there that are stolen and the culprits are looking for a way to bypass the PIN. This is why Garmin added this feature to their GPS's.

The Garmin Lock (anti-theft feature) security feature has been activated.
Going back to the security location will unlock the unit but in order to reset the pin code, the original pin code must be input.
To unlock the unit, it must be sent back to Garmin.

Lock
Garmin lock is a theft-deterrent system that locks your Nuvi. each time you turn on the Nuvi, enter the pin or drive to the security location to unlock.

Touch tools>settings>security
touch the button below Garmin lock
Enter a 4 digit pin and drive to security location

Note if you forget your PIN and your security location, you must send your Nuvi to Garmin to unlock it. You must also send a valid product registration or proof of purchase.

2. Take the unit to the Security Location you chose when activating Garmin Lock: it will then unlock without the PIN code and you can then either reset the PIN or disable Garmin Lock. The Security Location should not be the owner's home address, but many owners ignore this recommendation. Many owners choose their workplace or a close friend or relatives address for this purpose.

If neither option works then your unit is useless unless you send it to Garmin with proof of purchase. Garmin charge for the service and if your maps are not up to date then it's really a waste of money as the investment would be better spent on a new unit with current mapping.

I hope that you manage to either fix your problem using my advice or at least can decide whether to abandon the unit and buy another.

Forgot the pin code
Garmin Lock can only be deactivated by either entering the PIN code OR by taking the unit to the location where Garmin Lock was originally activated. For security, Garmin recommend that the security location is not the owner's home or workplace.

If you don't know the PIN or the security location then Garmin can reset the unit for you, but you have to return it to them with proof of ownership and pay a fee. If you have not registered the product with them (as advised when you bought it) they will not be able to unlock the unit for you. If this happens then the unit is effectively a write-off and cannot be used.

Forgot pin code
Performing a reset will NOT reset the PIN. There are only three ways to unlock a PIN locked Garmin:

1 - Enter the correct PIN.
2 - Take the unit to the location at which the PIN was initially entered. This is the Security Location.
3 - Send the unit back to Garmin. If you are unable to provide proof of purchase to Garmin, however, they will NOT return the unit to you.

I lost my pin for my gamin nuvi
You have three options for unlocking a PIN locked Garmin:

1 - Enter the correct PIN
2 - Take the unit to the location at which the PIN was entered
3 - Send the unit back to Garmin

Unfortunately, these are your only options as this is a security feature to prevent unauthorized use of a stolen GPS.

You have to go to the orig location you programmed your number. It uses the coordinates of that location in memory as a "Home" See below.

  6. Enter a four-digit code as your pin.

  9. Set the 'Security Location' by touching Set.

Unlock code for my garmin nuvi 350
Unfortunately, even if you perform master reset on Garmin GPS unit, it does not reset Garmin Lock security feature, which password-protect most Garmin electronic devices to deter theft. If you forget the PIN or password unlock code to unlock the Garmin unit, the best solution is to bring it to Garmin to get unlocked. “Secure Location” does not unlock a locked Garmin unit either as it’s only a temporary fix as when it’s turn on outside the security location, the device is locked again."

So unfortunately, there is only one option: You have to send your nüvi into the Garmin, who can unlock it. Remember original receipt.
