Folding Top Stowage Compartment Lid Release Inoperative
    Diagnostic Aids
    • When using the scan tool, the folding top cover is referenced as the tonneau.

    • If a repair is made to a signal circuit for a short to ground, test the component of that circuit for proper operation.

    • Removing the tonneau release relay will set a DTC and stop power folding top operation. Once the relay is replaced, the ignition must be cycled OFF then Run ACCY in order to continue operation.

    • Using the scan tool to access the History parameters for the folding top control (FTC) module, will display the last status of the items listed.

    Test Description
This step verifies the open or closed position of the power folding top.

This step verifies that the body control module (BCM) is applying battery voltage to the control circuit of the tonneau release relay. Removing the tonneau release relay will set DTC B3637 causing the BCM to disable output control of the relay until the ignition is cycled OFF/Run ACCY. After the test lamp is connected in place of the relay, the ignition must be cycled OFF/Run ACC in order for this step to be a valid test.

Manually Moving the Folding Top from the Up Position
Important: Allow the system a minimum of four minutes to bleed down pressure after the last cycle.
Manually release header latch per normal operation.
Manually lift front of roof off of the header and raise the #5 bow at the same time.
Manually release the Folding Top Cover latch using the emergency release cable.
Fold the roof down into the well.
Manually close and latch the folding top stowage cover.

Power Folding Top System Components
The power folding top system consists of the following components:
• Folding top control (FTC) module
• Body control module (BCM)
• Folding top control switch
• Serial data communication
• Folding top cover latch actuator
• Folding top cover pull down actuator
• Folding top pump motor with valve manifold
• Position switches and limit switches:
- Pin receiver switch
- Luggage barrier switch
- Folding top cover open switch
- Top open switch
- Top closed switch
- 5 bow raised switch
- 5 bow lowered switch
• Tonneau release relay
• TONNEAU PULL DOWN ACTUATOR Fuse 20 A
• TONNEAU RELEASE Fuse 10 A
• BATT 2 Fuse 40 A
• REAR FOG/ALDL TOP SW Fuse 10 A
• Folding top mechanical components:
- Folding top
- Folding top cover
- Folding top valve 1
- Folding top valve 2
- Folding top valve 3
- Hydraulic lines and cylinders

Folding Top Cover Latch Actuator
The power folding top system includes a folding top cover that is powered open and close by a hydraulic system that is controlled by the FTC module. A power unlatch motor is used to unlatch the folding top cover before the folding top control (FTC) module powers the top cover open. The folding top cover unlatching is requested by the FTC module via class 2 message, but is executed by the body control module (BCM). When requested, the BCM applies battery voltage through the folding top cover release relay control circuit to the tonneau release relay. The relay is energized and battery voltage is applied through the folding top cover release control circuit to the latch actuator. The actuator is energized and the latch releases the folding top cover.

The electronics on this are very complex ,

System Operation
Before any movement of the power folding top is allowed, the folding top control (FTC) module must be aware of the following conditions:
• Unlatch the header. The FTC module reads the pin receiver switch is Inactive.
• The windows must be normalized. Refer to Power Window Reinitialization.
• The ignition must be placed in Accessory or RUN.
• The transmission must be placed in PARK, or with manual transmission, the park brake must be applied.
• Trunk status must not be ajar.
• The luggage barrier must be in place.
• The pump motor temperature must be within the operating range.

After the last cycle of power folding top operation, allow the hydraulic system a minimum of 4 minutes to bleed down before attempting manual operation of the top.

2012 Volvo C70 convertible. The top is stored, trunk lid opens as normal, then everything stops. Have to wait maybe 30 minutes then I can successfully close the top back down.

Question moved from spanish car maker 'Seat' (See-At).
Question edited for clarity. Guessing it is a Volvo, so moved it there. 'Year Make Model' in all question please.

Try, it just be aware of pinch points and get ready to move fast. Also have someone at the ignition key ready to cut power in case anything jams.

1991 corvette convertible top deck clicks / inop

I have a 1991 convertible Vette and I had a simular problem. The top would release from the deck, but only the driver's side latch would release on the deck lid. What I discovered is a small bracket that is held on by a retaining washer clip and the clip had come off. Went to the hardware store and bought a new one for $ .50 and remounted the bracket. The manual release for the deck is located behind each seat, pull towards the center of the car.

How can i get bmw 323i convertible top down manualy

If your top is electric then you will need to release the front cowl motors at the center point of the trim in front of the rear view mirror(small access plug needs to be removed and allen key inserted to drive unit.) You also need to pull the release handle under the back seat bottom(driver's side) The release handle detaches the drive units for the storage lid cover and the convertible top drive. Once the motors are released, the front of the top must be lifted approximately 6 inches and the pressure against the rear of the top will relax. raise the rear bow, open the storage lid, lower the rear bow and push the front of the top up and toward the back of the car. The top should fold into the storage area. Once in, close the storage lid until it clicks.

See if the trunk has springs or metal rods that can be adjusted, like a garage door spring. Or, if it has gas struts, see if there is a stronger strut for a Sebring with a spoiler on the deck lid. It will be stronger to lift the heavier deck lid.

does the key turn the trunk lock?if not theres one issue right there.the other may be that the valet lever on trunk latch assy. may have inadvertantly been engaged if deck lid was slammed closed.the release solenoid will make noise when activated by fob or lever in car but because of valet being engaged cannot release latch.does key unlock glovebox?if not this may also be a valet key cut.contact nissan dealer to cut regular key.ive seen the slamming the deck lid scenario a million times as the valet lever takes hardly any effort to engage.good luck and let me know how you make out.

How do I put the convertible top down ?

If you reach behind the headrest on the driver's side, you should feel a handle. Pull that handle to release pins from the rear deck lid. Then there is a small yellow button under the deck lid or you can use the slide switch located on either door to release the deck lid. Next you must unlatch the front by pulling on the handles located above each of the visors. Then, with the deck lid open, fold the top down into the cargo area and close the deck lid.
Hope this helps.

Glove box is stuck

The lid "locks" into place by two retractable nibs on the outer sides of the glove box that are supposed to retract back into the lid housing when you lift up on the release lever.
If you can get a flat piece of metal like a slim jim down the sides of the glove box lid, you should be able to push the nib back into the housing, thus releasing the lock hold of the lid.
I just had to do this today when my Hyundai Tiburon glove box closed and refused to open agian.
It seems like the latch has a tendency to malfunction after a while and no longer is able to active the retraction of the nibs on each side.
Mine was retracting only on one side, so I could see that it was kind of "trying" to release but was still locked in place.
I hope this helps some
Good luck!
