My laptop is 17 months old and I cannot use it as I can't get it to charge, I think it could be the charing circuit as I thought I should I be able to use it if it is plugged in the mains without the battery fitted, do you know if this is correct?
The charger has been tested and it's not that, Samsung say it's either the battery or charging circuit, which isn't a surprising answer and not helpful.
Thanks
Most laptops will work with or without the battery and with the power adapter connected.
If the power adapter is OK, just connect it to the laptop's power socket and wriggle this plug. Does the charging LED flash as you wriggle this plug? If so the power socket may have a dry solder joint or it may be faulty. Either way the laptop needs to be dismantled to solder or replace the power socket.

Hi I live in the UK and purchased the laptop through Additions Direct, both Samsung and Additions have responded 'that I didn't purchase the extended guarantee so they can't help'. I didn't buy this as was over 50% of the cost of the laptop and did not expect something of this cost to breakdown so quickly.

Hi I am Vortash firstly disregarding the fault the guarantee period of this unit may be what you need to address .. firstly can you tell me what country you live in and from what retailer you purchased your Laptop . A lot of manufactures try to get away with it but you have rights under consumer agreements in many countries that they have to abide to and this sounds like one of them .. regards Vortash ..
