Solidex camcorder tripods

The latch that holds the camcorder on the tripod is broken and iI cannot find parts for it. It is a heavy duty solidex tripod and I would rather repair it than throw it away.
Can you help ?
Thanks.

I just got a Solidex vt-87hq tripod and it does not have a base plate. Bequx99 you said the Cullman Cu-40470 worked for your tripod. Will that particular base plate be compatible with my vt-87hq?

OKAY!! Thanks to the reply of "Baldwink", I was able to locate the product he suggested here in the U.S. from several dealers. This is the plate that mounts to the camera and allows easy removal/attachment to the tripod.

For the Solidex VT-90 tripod (the one I have and may fit others), order the Cullman CU-40470 Quick Release Plate. This is also described as the "Cullman Medium Quick Release 42mm" plate.

If you don't have the VT-90, measure the shoe plate area on top and remember that there will be at least one beveled (angled) area. Mine measured exactly 42mm square, so I am confident that the Cullman plate will fit. Also, the standard thread size for camera mounting is 1/4", but there are some cameras that use 3/8", so you might want to double check your camera for this spec.

I googled "cullman 40470 quick release" and found several U.S. dealers. The best price was from Adorama.com at $14 plus $5 ground shipping. Some dealers want as much as $33.

After nearly 20 years, I can use my Solidex VT-90 again!

I bought this part for my Solidex VT-90 HQ but it didn't seem to fit (too wide on the sides where there are small plastic parts standing out). Do you know any solution to this, should I try to in some way cut off the plastic parts standing out (then this part would fit I guess. Or is it something I missed?

    Thanks in advance!

If anyone should need a latch to hold a camera for the defunkt Solidex tripod, I was in the same boat but have found one here in Germany. The company is called "CULLMANN" www.cullmann-foto.de
the part is at Stativ-Zubehor quick release platform for 1/4 Video.

I have a solidex vidoTripod Fluid. I do not know the model number but it is made in Taiwan. It is complete and workes except for the part on top that attaches the camera to the tripod. I will be happy to sell you and ship my tripod to you. All you have to do is pay $10 for the tripod and the additional shipping costs, and you will have all the parts you need

I have a similar issue.
re: replacement part, attachment latch//Sony HandyCam DCR-PC101 and VCT-D680RM Remote Control Tripod I have lost the piece that attaches my Sony Handycam to my Sony Remote Control Tripod. I do not know the exact name for that piece ('latch'? ''shoe'?) but it screws onto the base of the camera then easily snaps onto the tripod. Please can you help me identify where to replace this part? I would imagine it is a standard part, even if that tripod model is discontinued.

Solidex is not a tripod for which parts can be gotten. Most of the Solidex tripods do not have removable heads. Try anther brand. You can find a bunch of very good tripods at: itripod.com UI like the Sirui brand

As far as I know Solidex is out of business and since most of there parts are not standard to the other major manufacturers you should either buy a new tripod or search for the same (exact same) model on ebay or craigs list to find the same model and use it for parts.

If you have not found the part for your tripod you are looking for, I have the whole assembly complete, still in the original box.$50 and it's yours.
