Open command prompt on your computer

  1. Press the windows key & X at the same time, and click Command prompt
Then, check to see if you have an APIPA (A DHCP error)
  1. Type IPConfig and hit enter
  2. If your address is 169.254.x.x, you have an APIPA
Try to Renew/Release your IP
  1. Type IPConfig /release and hit enter, this will release your IP
  2. Then, type IPConfig /renew and hit enter, this will request the DHCP server for a new IP.

Normally TCP/IP addresses are allocated using DHCP by the provider to the router. The router will have a private address range, which will be given to a local network by its own TCP/IP.

First find out the IP address , Subnet mask,and Gateway addresses of your ISP ( Internet Service Provider ). According to above addresses, you have to complete the network settings of your printer by mentioning the different IP address .

To find out the above mentioned addresses, first open the control panel -> network connections -> local area connction -> properties -> Internet Protocol Version 4(TCP/IPV4) OR Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPV6)according to your ISP -> Properties

By the systematic selection as mentioned above you will get the IP address, subnet mask and Gateway addresses.

Suppose your IP address is 192.168.0.10 , the gateway may be 192.168.0.1 Or any number. And the subnet mask may be XYY.XYY.XYY.0.

According to your ISP addresses you have to complete the network settings of your printer. First press the additional functions -> system settings -> network settings -> TCP/IP settings -> fill up the addresses as follows.

IP address : 192.168.0.16 OR any number .

subnet mask : XYY.XYY.XYY.0.

Gateway : 192.168.0.1

Hurray ! the problem about your network connection with the printer to your computer will be automatically solved.

Why can't you connect to the Internet?

First check your TCP/IP address - see my earlier tip on checking you are connected to a network. For most recent systems, (not Linux) open a command prompt window (type "cmd" in the RUN window from the start menu) and type ipconfig /all
you should see your network adapter name and IP address, a subnet mask (don't worry) and a default gateway, also a DNS server IP address. If ANY of these are missing, that's your problem, try repairing or resetting the network adapter. WRITE THEM DOWN. You may have more than one adapter, you need to identify which one is used for the Internet connection.
If they are all there, from the SAME window type "ping" followed by the IP address of your default gateway. If this fails, you have no connection to your internet router, find out why!
If this succeeds, type "ping" again, followed by the IP address of your DNS server. If this fails, type "tracert" and then the IP address of your DNS server. The FIRST address that will be reported is your default gateway; followed by your ISP address; if the only address you see is your default gateway, the link to your ISP  is down, give them  a call. If it succeeds, from the same window type "nslookup"
You will see a chevron prompt, type in the name of the site you want to go to, e.g google.com.
You should then see a reply from your DNS server, and an IP address for your required server. If not, then either your DNS server settings are wrong OR the server does not exist. It will be obvious which it is from the reply you receive. If the DNS settings are wrong, you can change them from the Control Panel, Network, Network adapter, Properties, TCP/IP v4 properties menu; try setting DNS server to 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4 and try again.

If you have configured every thing correctly , the problem may be with the network cable. There are (2) types of network cables are available.They are 1). cross net work cable ,2). Parallel network cable. I think you have used the parallel network cable. Now try to purchase the cross network cable or you may prepare it if you are awre about it. Hurray ! your problem will be solved automatically.
Even though if your problem is not solved , kindly follow the instructions as follows;

First findout the IP address , subnet mask,and Gateway addresses of your ISP ( InternetService Provider ). According to above addresses, you have to complete the networksettings of your printer by mentioning the different IP address .

How to get the ip adress from a linksys rtp300 phone adapter

I'm not sure if your asking for the IP ADDRESS of your Linksys or the DEFAULT GATEWAY of that device because your router's ip address will be provided by your server or Internet Service Provider (ISP) depending on your service. There are two ways of obtaining an ip address first will be DYNAMIC, where your ip address changes all the time and STATIC where you are given specific ip addresses for example 192.168.0.1 -to 192.168.0.25. The easiest way to obtain those ip addresses, by the way, is to contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP)
example: AT&T, Roadrunner, Time Warner, etc....

But, if your looking for the DEFAULT GATEWAY for you to access your router's configuration, most of the time it is found underneath the router itself. For Linksys the Default Gateway is 192.168.1.1

My linksys does not have a IP adress how do i fix that?

keep in mind that your router gets the ip address for you to go online from the Internet service provider (ISP). if you are positive that your problem is that your router is not getting that IP address. you need to contact the ISP and have the reset on their end your modem so you get an ip address.

now your computer is the one that is not getting the ip address there are a few things you can try.

1. do start>run>cmd (enter) and at the command prompt type
'ipconfig /all' and press enter.
2. check the output and make sure you have dhcp enabled and see if there's an Ip address in the range of 192.168.1.x, if you are getting this. your router is providing this ip address that's fine.
3. if you are not getting the ip address in the range noted above. make sure your network adapter is set to receive an ip address automotically, go into network connections, select and right click your network adapter, go to properties, go down to tcp/ip and click properties and make sure you have selected to "obtain an ip address automatically " and also select a "obtain a dns server address automatically".
4. it does not hurt to check if you are properly connected to your router, if you are using a cable, make sure the leds on your router and your network card have a both a green light and a blinkin led. it could be simply a blinking green light. and if it's wireless, make sure you are able to see the name of your router (linksys or the name you set) in the list of wireless networks avaliable to you to connect. also, make sure you're using the right password and the right type of encription method configured on your router if this settings were previously configured.

Linksis router wont work help me out

First of all contact your isp and get your connection settings. If you are able to setup the router using the cd provided then good. If you are still having problems then go ahead and contact linksys (remember linksys charges for the support). I suggest get a technician to assist you in setting up.

How to setup network adaptor

Hi there,

Technically you should provide 'IP Address" to your network card. Generally IP address is provided by the ISP (Internet Service Provider) provider you are using.

Once you get the ip address you can configure it by right clicking on the my network>properties>TCP/IP setting.

This will work.

Please remember that D-Link AirPlus G wireless devices are pre-configured to connect together, right out of the box, with their default settings.For a typical wireless setup at home (as shown above), please do the following:
1) You will need broadband Internet access (a Cable or DSL-subscriber line into
your home or office)
2) Consult with your Cable or DSL provider for proper installation of the modem
3) Connect the Cable or DSL modem to the DI-524 Wireless Broadband Router
(see the printed Quick Installation Guide included with your router.)
4) If you are connecting a desktop computer to your network, install the D-Link AirPlus G DWL-G510 wireless PCI adapter into an available PCI slot on your desktop computer. You may also install the DWL-G520, or the DWL-520. (See the printed Quick Installation Guide included with the network adapter.)
5) Install the D-Link DWL-G630 wireless Cardbus adapter into a laptop computer.
(See the printed Quick Installation Guide included with the DWL-G630.)
6) Install the D-Link DFE-530TX+ adapter into a desktop computer. The four Ethernet LAN ports of the DI-524 are Auto MDI/MDIX and will work with both Straight-Through and Cross-Over cable. (See the printed Quick Installation Guide included with the DFE-530TX+.)

Using the Configuration Menu

Whenever you want to configure your network or the
DI-524, you can access the Configuration Menu by
opening the web-browser and typing in the IP Address
of the DI-524. The DI-524 default IP Address is shown
bellow:
-Open the web browser
-Type in the IP Address of
the Router (http://192.168.0.1)

SSID- Service Set Identifier (SSID) is the name designated for a specific wireless local area network (WLAN). The SSID’s factory default setting is default. The SSID can be easily changed to connect to an existing wireless network or to establish a new wireless network.

Channel- 6 is the default channel. All devices on the network must share the same channel. (Note: The wireless adapters will automatically scan and match the wireless setting.)

WEP- Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) is a wireless security protocol for Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN). WEP provides security by encrypting the data that is sent over the WLAN. Select Enabled or Disabled. Disabled is the default setting. (Note: If you enable encryption on the DI-524 make sure to also enable encryption on all the wireless clients or wireless connection will not be established.)

WEP Encryption- Select the level of encryption desired: 64-bit, or 128-bit

Key Type- Select HEX or ASCII

Keys 1-4- Input up to 4 WEP keys; select the one you wish to use.

Host Name- The Host Name is optional but may be required by some ISPs. The default host name is the device name of the Router and may be changed.

MAC Address- The default MAC Address is set to the WAN’s physical interface MAC address on the Broadband Router. It is not recommended that you change the default MAC address unless required by your ISP.

Clone MAC Address- The default MAC address is set to the WAN’s physical interface MAC address on the Broadband Router. You can use the “Clone MAC Address” button to copy the MAC address of the Ethernet Card installed by your ISP and replace the WAN MAC address with the MAC address of the router. It is not recommended that you change the default MAC address unless required by your ISP.

DNS Address- Choose Static IP Address if all WAN IP information is provided to you by your ISP. You will need to enter in the IP address, subnet mask, gateway address, and DNS address(es) provided to you by your ISP. Each IP address entered in the fields must be in the appropriate IP form, which are four octets separated by a dot (x.x.x.x). The Router will not accept the IP address if it is not in this format.

IP Address- Input the public IP Address provided by your ISP.

Subnet Mask- Input your Subnet mask. (All devices in the network must have the same subnet mask.)

ISP Gateway Address- Input the public IP address of the ISP to which you are connecting.

Primary DNS Address- Input the primary DNS (Domain Name Server) IP address provided by your ISP.

Secondary DNS Address- This is optional.

Choose PPPoE (Point to Point Protocol over Ethernet) if your ISP uses a PPPoE connection. Your ISP will provide you with a username and password. This option is typically used for DSL services. Select Dynamic PPPoE to obtain an IP address automatically for your PPPoE connection. Select Static PPPoE to use a static IP address for your PPPoeE connection.

PPPoE- Choose this option if your ISP uses PPPoE. (Most DSL users will select this option.)

Dynamic PPPoE- receive an IP Address automatically from your ISP.

Static PPPoE-you have an assigned (static) IP Address.

User Name- Your PPPoE username provided by your ISP.

Retype Password- Re-enter the PPPoE password

Service Name- Enter the Service Name provided by your ISP (optional).

IP Address- This option is only available for Static PPPoE. Enter the static IP Address for the PPPoE connection.

Primary DNS Address- Primary DNS IP address provided by our ISP

Secondary DNS Address- This option is only available for Static PPPoE. Enter the static IP Address for the PPPoE connection.

Maximum Idle Time- Enter a maximum idle time during which Internet connection is maintained during inactivity. To diable this feature, enable Autoreconnect.

MTU- Maximum Transmission Unit-1492 is the default setting-you may need to change the MTU for optimal performance with your specific ISP.

Auto-reconnect- If enabled, the DI-524 will automatically connect to your ISP after your system is restarted or if the PPPoE connection is dropped.

LAN is short for Local Area Network. This is considered your internal network. These are the IP settings of the LAN interface for the DI-524. These settings may be referred to as Private settings. You may change the LAN IP address if needed. The LAN IP address is private to your internal network and cannot be seen on the Internet.

IP Address- The IP address of the LAN interface. The default IP address is: 192.168.0.1.

Subnet Mask- The subnet mask of the LAN interface. The default subnet mask is 255.255.255.0.

Local Domain- This field is optional. Enter in the local domain name.

DHCP stands for Dynamic Host Control Protocol. The DI-524 has a built-in DHCP server.
The DHCP Server will automatically assign an IP address to the computers on the LAN/
private network. Be sure to set your computers to be DHCP clients by setting their TCP/
IP settings to “Obtain an IP Address Automatically.” When you turn your computers on,
they will automatically load the proper TCP/IP settings provided by the DI-524. The
DHCP Server will automatically allocate an unused IP address from the IP address pool
to the requesting computer. You must specify the starting and ending address of the IP
address pool.

DHCP Server- Select Enabled or Disabled. The default setting is Enabled.
Starting
IP Address- The starting IP address for the DHCP server’s IP assignment
Ending
IP Address- The ending IP address for the DHCP server’s IP assignment
Lease Time- The length of time for the IP lease. Enter the Lease time. The
default setting is one hour

Just a bit of explanation. E0 interface is for inside network (LAN interface). E1 is for outside (ISP or WAN physical interface). Dialer1 is for PPPoE (the "actual"/logical WAN interface). The 1.0.0.13 is ISP provided static IP address for the use of the server. This configuration example is for running FTP server, which uses the standard TCP port 20 and 21.

The LAN uses 10.10.10.0 network with 255.255.255.0 subnet for both servers and workstations. All servers within the LAN use static IP address. The router is configured as DHCP server to give out IP info (IP addresses, subnet mask, DNS) to workstations that are configured as DHCP client.

Basically I suggest that you deploy NAT (Network Address Translation) and PAT (Port Address Translation) to setup your own servers behind Cisco router. The NAT is used to translate the ISP's given static IP address to your local IP address. The PAT is used to translate TCP ports (the port 20 and 21) between the two IP addresses.

When using NAT/PAT, keep in mind that the Internet-accessible servers are seen from the Internet as their NAT/PAT-ed IP address (the Public IP address) and not the local IP address (not the Private IP address). This understanding is very important when you or someone need to test connectivity to the server and/or when you need to create filter (access list or ACL for short) to allow only certain incoming traffic from the Internet and block others.

Instruments used in this illustration are pretty much standard for running your own servers. Please note that IP addresses, username, and password are changed. However, you could always modify the configuration to suit your situation.

This sample configuration assumes that you have a block of IP from ISP. There is a dedicated Public IP address for the router WAN interface (the Dialer1 interface) and another dedicated Public IP address for the server PAT IP address. If you only have a single Public IP address for both router WAN interface and server PAT IP address, there are several ways to configure the router.

One way is to use the same command as shown in sample configuration.

This one configuration way is suitable when you have static IP address from your ISP and you know exactly what the IP address is. In this case you have the 1.1.1.14 single static IP address for both the WAN interface and Public server IP address.

When you are unsure which IP address you receive from the ISP, or when your Public IP address keep changing; then another way to configure the static PAT is following

With situation of dynamic IP address, at some point you still need to know the exact Public IP address you receive from your ISP for server connection testing and production time. To find out, you can issue show ip interface brief command on the router. You will then see the associated WAN interface Public IP address.
