I have a jenn air cook stove that was used with propane. I would like to know how to convert it to natural gas

Faulty range/oven parts aren't the only worry a gas range owner has; the threat of carbon monoxide is very real and should be paid close attention to when doing repairs on the range.

If your range or oven gives off soot, you definitely have a carbon monoxide problem. Soot is the result of inefficient or incomplete combustion. There are always elevated levels of carbon monoxide with soot production. Properly adjusted range/oven parts do not give off soot. You may have poorly adjusted gas pressure, the air shutter may need to be opened, or you may be supplying fuel the oven isn't designed to handle. Don't use natural gas in liquid propane stove or vice-versa.

Increase Engine horsepower.

incorrect conversion- valves to large - gas should not leak at all- should only FLOW when in use- TURN OFF GAS TO STOVE- EXTREME FIRE HAZARD

Pat, it is very important that all appliances that used natural are guaranteed to be LP Gas approved. Fact is natural gas uses about 1/4 oz. psi where Lp Gas uses 8lbs. to 13psi

Go on line to westing house.com and look up your model, go to the help page and ask for their assistance, gas is not something to fool around with, I suspect it is the orifice that have not been converted to propane, I had a similar problenm with the stove top burners, and the orifices needed to be changed to (converted ) to run on propane gas.Some times manufactures send the converter orfices but most of the time you have to ask for them if you are running on propane, most stoves are set up for natural gas not propane.Most of the time the store clerks don't ask you if you will be running on propane , you have to tell them and the professional who installs the unit needs to install the orifices. Please be careful! If you installed the stove your self, you need to contact a professional installer to correctly adjust these .

On top of that safety valve is a nut. Get a good fitting wrench. Turn on the oven and use that good fitting wrench on that nut. Turn it counterclockwise till the flame comes up about midways of the flame spreader. Don't get the flames too high. Midways of the spreader now. LOL

The only thing you can do is look for a little (usually gold) nozzle connected to the orfice

In most cases the pressure regulator has to be changed or adjusted. The orfices on each burner, oven, broiler and surface burner may need to be changed also. Sometimes they can be adjusted. Sometimes the threads on the pipe are different also. This is to prevent accidental connection to the wrong fuel. The big difference is the gas pressure. LP is usually around 10 - 12 lbs and natural gas is usually around 3 lbs. Properly adjusted you will like natural gas much better than LP as it is slightly hotter. The information will be in the instruction book and also on the Jenn air web site. Whirlpool owns both Maytag and Jenn aire so check all sites. The conversion kit is usually less than $50.
