SOURCE: coffee urn heating element not working

there are 3 or 4 componants inside that could cause the problem.
if you can use an ohm meter, check all of them for continuity.
a switch
overtemp fuse
perk control fuse, or keep warm fuse
element
all should read "short " or almost 0 ohms when the unit is unplugged '

SOURCE: How much coffee do I use to make coffee in the 55

use 7- 8 0z cups fresh grounds. Time to brew depends on efficiency of urn. Maybe 15-20 minutes on average.

SOURCE: We have several Farberware FSU255 coffee urns in

I have the older style 55 cup coffeemaker. It is critical that the coffee grounds basket compress that spring on the stem. Pull the spring upward alittle until the basket rises slightly above it's seated position until you put the lid on and it will put the necessary pressure on the stem down in the heater element hole. Also there is what appears to be a loose washer on the bottom of that stem (where it fits into the heater unit) This washer must be free to move around and it acts like a check valve to prevent water that has "perked" up the stem from falling back down the stem.

Hi. There are a few things that can be broken. Take the bottom off and see if you can find the problem. Good luck bobbyone

Re: Farberware Model FSU-122. On First use "a Friend" plugged in the new urn. The red light came on. Then it became apparent that NO WATER was added. Quickly removed top, basket and stem...THEN ADDED...

Hi Jerry. It is the fuse. This fuse does not look like any fuse we are used to seeing. Very easy fix. the fuse looks like a 2-4" long piece of flat copper about 1/2" wide with a samll drop of solder in the middle. I sell the parts on eBay under ron622c, if you cant find one. Good luck. Ron

The stem isn't producing enough water force over the grounds.

Hi. Check the spring and make sure it is just under the coffee basket. Next thing check the keep warm element, it should be on at all times the poy is in use. 1 of the 2, one is a fix.

I believe the heating unit is burnt out. where

Hi. Your heating element is NOT burnt out.Since the unit is almost new, I would say someone left it on and the water evaporated and the safty fuse poped . It is a very easy fix, just take the bottom off and you will see the problem. Good luck bobbyone

Making hot chocolate in regal 36 cup coffee maker

I've never done that myself but I have seen it done at a school function when my children were younger. If you make sure to rinse the valve thoroughly after you empty the urn, what problems could it cause?

Water heats but stops perculating

Check the spring under the grounds basket on the pump tube. This is supposed to hold the end of the tube down in the heater well. It should compress when the lid is pushed down on the basket and twisted to lock in under the handles.  I have found a good source of parts for Faberware urns and percolators at goodmans.net. The thermostats and heating elements can be easily replaced and the urn returned to original condition. Rich of Colorado
