01 kia optima stalled and wont start...starter just clicks

01 kia optima stalled wont start. Just clicks when you turn the key. Starter clicks, then stops, sometimes I get a little buzz sound with the click...Possible starter, or fuel pump?

Thanks, I just replaced the alternator a week ago, so I doubt its that, but I will re check to be sure it's charging properly Someone told me it could be the timing position sensor. That looks like a bit of a job though, and I cant afford the labor which is close to 300. so Im stuck trying to fix this thing myself. Any other ideas? My email is bluebandana19 at yahoo.

It seems the starter is playing up.First check if your battery is charged fully or try to jump start and see what happens. If the engine start then it's either you need a new battery or else you need a replacement alternator.Test using a voltmeter if the actual altenator is working. Finally the last option is the starter motor that needs changing or fixing...Hope this helps.

04 kia optima has no signal to starter and wont crank. Periodically starts

Check the starter relay it's on the left strut tower remove it and check for corrosion also feel to make sure it clicks each time the ignition switch is turned if not swap it with another relay with the same number, the next place to check is the pink wire between the starter and the relay box. If this vehicle has a theft deterrent system check those fuses, there's also a "start" fuse in the under dash fuse block check it for corrosion.

I replaced timing belt for 2001 Kia Optima, I set timing marks correct, engine start then stopped quickly. Wierd sound. Battery ok, starter ok.

hi olga.
The starter won't crank. If nothing happens when you turn the ignition key to the "Start" position, it means that the starter motor doesn't turn over the engine. Most commonly this could be caused by a dead battery; here is How to check the battery. ... The starter motor itself or a starter solenoid could be bad.13 Aug 2013

Car wont start

If the engine cranks the starter is doing its job.
You would need to check for fuel pressure at the injectors.
Its possible the pump was clogged up or overheated when you were driving it low on fuel. The gasoline keeps the pump cool and lubed.
The only fuel filter for your model is inside the gas tank.

Hi! my kia won't start. it just clicks. do i replace the whole starter or could it be just a switch? i see coolant that has made it close to where starter is....could this have shorted some circuit?

Check your battery charge and look for cable corrosion and loose connections at the battery. If these are good then it's a good chance the starter is dead. Try tapping the starter with a hammer while someone is holding the key in the start position. Please rate. Thanks
