see the diagram : 1) O.k if the thermostat 2) Thermofuse is o.k is good resultant BUT please 3) Test the door switch for open or defective , if the remain open the motor will NOT START. see the diagram. 4) After changing the switch if the problem remain the same the motor is faulty( centrifugal swithc, etc) need repair or replace. 5) Test the push button start for diryt or open, test the wires for loose, broke, or burn wires too.
usually the humming sound is coming from the motor,try this,open the door,turn the drum with one hand and hold the door switch in with your other hand and have someone else push the start button at the same time,this might help the motor turn on but if it does you need a new motor,if you can't turn the drum you could have something stuck in the blower wheel or something jammed in the motor like a broken belt but like i said a humming sound is usually the motor.
Most of the time the bin has been removed and not put back in properly. When this happens ice blocks the drive motor. Remove the bin and turn the auger by hand make sure it will turn and is not jammed. Now with the bin out push the light button in that turns the light out and have someone push the button for ice while the door is still open the motor should turn in the back make sure thereis no ice blocking it. If it turns nothing is wrong with the motor. The clicking sound is usually the motor jammed by ice or the auger not engaged on the motor. hope this helps good luck
if it's a humming sound the motor is bad or something is jammed keeping the motor from spinning.open the dryer door and move the drum by hand if the drum can't be moved the belt could be jammed on something or there's something stuck in the blower wheel.the blower wheel is behind the duct that the lint filter slides into.if you can move the drum then you most likely have a bad motor,try spinning the drum and push the door switch in and have someone else push the push to start button and see if the dryer will start,if the motor has a flat spot it could start like this.let me know what you find
Good day, Seems you've covered the timer and push to start switch. If so then.... The principle the system runs on is, if the timer is turned on, 2 wires come out of it to run the the motor. The first goes to the push to start switch and when pressed it sends power directly to the motor. The second wire goes to the motor, but thru a centrifugal switch that must be up to speed before it sends power to the motor. That is why it continues to run even when you release the start button. The centrifugal switch is a part of the motor. Either the centrifugal switch failed, or the power wire to it is disconnected or broken.
Look for a reset switch/button on the motor. It may be popped out or it may just need pushing. If no reset, I would suspect the start capacitor has been damaged.
The start capacitor is usually under a tube-like cover on the outside of the motor. Disconnect the leads to this and test for its rated capacitance with a multimeter. If it fails the test with the meter, replace it.
If "won't run" meaning; "does not tumble/spin" this can be a couple things;
1. Defective Drive Belt (Likely): Broken or jammed (not properly attached to motor/pulley). Nothing will happen when pressing start; unit will not heat or rotate/tumble. "Normal ware and tear"
2. Defective Door Switch (Very likely) - Very common due to constant "slamming" of door. The door switch enables power to be passed through-out machine when door closes for safety purposes. Switch located at door area and can be tested for continuity. "Nothing will happen when pressing start; unit will not heat or tumble/turn". * Fairly easy to replace; two mounting screws.
3. Defective/Jammed Motor (Rare, but possible): You may hear a "humming noise" and burning smell. Also, excessive lint in blower housing may jam the motor from rotating. "Does not come on; does not tumble/turn"
Remember to disconnect power from unit before servicing.
try turning the drum by hand...is it jammed? if not, then:
the motor will not turn due to a number of reasons:
1.) simply burned out copper windings
2.) switch not turning on motor or not turning on motor starting circuit-depending on design
...if jammed, then try to find the interference to turning
