The "CHA" means the camera cannot read the card here are a couple of reasons why this may occur. The most probable is that the card didn't seat properly when you put it in so try reseating it.
CHA can also mean that the camera has detected an invalid partition type. Reformatting the card may allow it to be used.

CH A error indicates that the camera can not communicate with the memory card. Most often this is caused by formatting a memory card in a computer and then putting it into the camera. (Especially on 4 + gb cards). Solution is 1. Reset the camera - then it should work with cards that it worked with in the past. 2. Take the bad memory card and reformat it in your computer to FAT not FAT 32.
It should now work - although it will show capacity to be only 2 gb...
I believe at that point, if you reformat it in camera it will work at the full 4 gb.

The CHA error indicates an issue with the memory card in the camera.
Try another card and see if that works ok.
Also, always format cards in the camera.
In case the error comes back on a new card, you will need to send the camera to Nikon.
I will appreciate your feedback and positive rating for this free solution.

I solved this problem by taking a Qtip with alcohol on it and cleaning the Compact Flash. Then I dried the Compact Flash with canned air. Then I took the card and inserted it and ejected it from the camera 5-6 times and POOF it worked. Also, I am using a San Disk 32 Gig CF card and it is working just fine now that my formatting issue is solved.
