Subtitles always on

Subtitles are always on even though settings on the disc and on the machine are off. I have set subtitles to off using the "subtitle" button on the remote. Subtitles are set to off on the disc. It doesn't matter what disc I play, subtitles are always on. How do I get rid of this?

If your remote has a [CC] button, push it to turn the closed captioning/ subtitles on.
If there isn't a button on the remote, look through the TV's Settings Menu ( usually under Accessibility if your TV's Menu has that tab. )
If you can't find it, you may need to get yourself a cable box etc. With the feature.
With Roku and other streaming sticks you toggle the subtitles/ captioning on and off with the [*] button.

If you want to add subtitle to online movie permanently, you can check this article.

We believe you have the Closed Caption decoder in your TV enabled. Please turn off the CC feature in the TV.

SOURCE: Subtitles are too low and can't be read...can I

Yes you can. It is called the aspect ratio. You will find it on the menu of your DVD Player. Goto the menu without a disk in the player.
You can also change the aspect ratio on some TV's to match that of the player. See your TV menu or user manual.

SOURCE: subtitles position are ok on pc to low on tv

The TV may have an adjustment or not to either center the picture up/down or adjust the overall height of the image--some have it and some do not.

Subtitles always on

Hi - welcome to FixYa,

There are 2 methods for changing the subtitle settings on your DVD player.

Method 1.
To turn off the subtitles on your DVD player during playback:

1. Press the "SUBTITLE" button on your remote control
The subtitle button is just below the "0" (zero) numerical key on the remote control. It is marked "SUBTITLE" above the button and the button has "ABC" written inside a white rectangle on it.
2. Use the left "<" and right ">" arrow keys to change the subtitle setting
Each time you press an arrow key the subtitle language will change and eventually the language will read "OFF". The subtitles are now switched off during playback.

Method 2.
To turn disc subtitles off from the main menu:

1. Press the "MENU/LIST" button on your remote control (directly below "STOP")
The main menu will now appear
2. Press the down arrow key on your remote once to highlight "A" in the left hand column of the main menu
3. Press the right arrow key on your remote once to move to the right-hand column of the menu
4. Press the down arrow twice to highlight "Disc Subtitle"
5. Use the left and right arrow keys to change the subtitle options until your required choice is displayed
6. Once set, press the "MENU/LIST" button again to exit the menu.

This should solve your problem, but if you need any further assistance, please post back.

Regards,
BElectric

Can't get English subtitles on

Check the language settings on the DVD player. I'm not familiar with Panasonic machines, but most players have default language options for subtitles, soundtrack & menus.

The firmware update may have reset this option.
