Usually that sound means a low battery.

The clicking is caused by the battery voltage dropping below 9 volts, due to the load drawn by the starter, when the starter solenoid engages. The low voltage isn't enough to keep the solenoid energized and its spring returns it, thus cutting power to the starter. Absent the starter's load, voltage is restored, energizing the start solenoid and the cycle repeats.

In any case, when the battery gets that low you usually need to leave the jumper cables connected for 5-10 minutes before trying to start it.

Clicking noise wont start

Sounds like a weak solenoid on the starter. Probably needs starter replacement. Those cars need a mechanic to work on them.

Last week, my 1998 Lexus ES300 wouldn't start (clicking sound) and I thought it was the battery. I jump started it but noticed that it still made the clicking sound, for my first couple of tries, it did...

If car wont start and clicking sound is heard this is a battery related or starter related, if your car battery is in good condition (which I think it was) then the problem is your starter, have it check to confirm.

WONT START, BATTERY IS UP. MAKES CLICKING SOUND.

if the clicking sound comes from the solenoid when you try to start the engine the solenoid may need replacing, the solenoid is like a big switch that takes the power from the battery to the starter motor, inside it there contacts that come together to make contact & that is where the problem is.....hope this helps.....cheers

Wont start funny clicking sound when i turn the key ???

Hi!!

The clicking you are hearing, is the sound of a weak battery, Jump start the vehicle and take it to an AutoZone for a Charging System check.

Good Luck!!

Clicking sound - won't turn-over.

Starter motor needs replacing. The clicking is the sound of the solenoid pushing the drive gear of the starter out to the flywheel and it should start turning then. A faulty motor though wont turn so it either needs replacing or reconditioning.

My car makes a popping sound when u turn and it leaks power stearing fluid. when it pops turning one way it pulls in that direction. but wneh u turn back and it pops again it straightens out

Sounds like the Rack and pinion needs to be replaced if it is leaking fluid and popping. The inner tie rod connected to it could cause the same popping sound but not the leak.

2005 Ford Escape does not start, makes clikcing sound

sounds like the starter solenoid is defective, the contacts inside the solenoid get worn from electrical arching and then a no start occurs, the indication is a fairly loud clicking noise when you try to start the engine.
