For safety, the KVT-696, like other 'head units,' is design so that, properly installed, it will only work while the vehicle is in Park, with the parking brake ON. Makes sense if you think about it. Hey?

SOURCE: i cant getta dvd picture on my kenwood kvt 719dvd...brake wire???

Did you install it, they generally sense whether youre moving by having a connection to your handbrake, if this is not connected the unit thinks youre moving but usually gives an on screen message.
To disable this you usually have to ground the brake sensor wire( connect it to the body of the vehicle)
YOU TRY THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SOURCE: i connect my kenwood kvt 719dvd and get a protect message

did you check continuity to ground with each speaker wire?
Have it bench tested at a local shop to eliminate or identify the unit as being at fault.

SOURCE: kenwood kvt-719dvd plays dvd but wont show picture

It is probably that the parking safety wire wasn't hooked up properly, or at all. Most in dash dvd players are equipped with a motion safety device to prohibit the driver from viewing movies and such on the monitor while the vehicle is in motion. The wire for this needs to be hooked to the parking brake light wiring. This will ensure that when the parking brake is on, the dvd can sense that the vehicle is stopped, and should therefore show the image.

My subwoofer won't play while watching a movie or playing iPod only while on the radio. Why?

it sounds like the "remote wire" on the amp is coming from the "power antenna" output of the radio instead of the "remote turn-on" wire or in the case of kenwood, the "power cont." wire. Sounds like that's whats happening.... switch the wires on the kvt-512, should be a blue wire and a blue/white wire. hope that helps, dave

Putting kenwood kvt 617 dvd in rear of surburan how can i bypass parking brake so movies can play while driving

On bypasses you can either hook the parking brake wire straight to ground, if that does not work you can install a toggle switch between the parking brake wire and ground so you can mimic the parking brake on off.

No sound from anything but FM

Disconnect whatever's connected to the blue wire behind the unit, and re-connect it to the blue/white wire instead.
