"to copy and paste a paragraph" - I just used my c7 to copy the prior phrase from you the text in your question and to paste it into this "add your solution" answer box. Here's how I did it...... 1-I placed the cursor in front of the word "to", and while holding the touchpad down with my left finger, swiped the cursor through the phrase to the end of the word "paragraph" (thereby highlighting the desired phrase), then lifted both hands. 2- With the cursor over the end of the highlighted phrase, I used my left finger to hold down the "alt" key to the left of the touchpad the clicked the touchpad causing the drop-down copy menu to appear, then lifted both hands. 3-I then used the touchpad to move the cursor over the word "copy" in the drop-down menu and clicked the touchpad.
4-Then I placed the cursor in this "answer" text-box clicked once once. Next I held down the "alt" key to the left of the touchpad and clicked the touchpad to cause the "paste" drop-down menu to appear and raised both hands. Finally I moved the cursor over the word "paste" in the drop-down menu and clicked the touchpad, thereby successfully copying and pasting the phrase from your question. PS - an alternative to holding the left alt key and clicking to get the drop-down menu is to place two fingers on the touchpad (about a half inch apart) and click with both fingers simultaneously. The latter method only works about 75% of the time for me, so I recommend using the alt key.
You need to re-open your laptop cover to check whether the wire contacts of the touchpad connected to the motherboard of your laptop are all OK.
Also, this kind of issues occur if something like water or oil is on the touchpad causing it to not behave as expected (eg: scrolling one pos at a time instead of all the way down ). Also if your fingers are sweaty this can occur.
Now, for the right-left clickable buttons of the touchpad, you probably need to check again if anything's broken on the inside of the laptop.
To move the pointer, slide your finger across the TouchPad surface in the direction you want the pointer to go. Use the TouchPad buttons like the corresponding buttons on an external mouse. To scroll up and down using the TouchPad vertical scroll zone (right edge of the touchpad), slide your finger up or down over the lines.
NOTE: If you are using the TouchPad to move the pointer, you must lift your finger off the TouchPad before moving it to the scroll zone.
The touchpad is very small on this netbook, so the ratio between the finger movement and cursor movement has to be high in order to be able to move the cursor from one side of the screen to the opposite.
The cursor cannot be too slow, because you would have to glide the finger several times on the touchpad to move it across the whole screen.
However, the speed of the cursor can be adjusted in the mouse properties in Control Panel (Start->Settings->Control Panel->Mouse) in the Pointer Options tab. Experiment with different settings to find one that suits you.
With such small touchpad I would suggest forming a habit of rocking the finger on the touchpad to achieve better precision and control, instead of sliding it. Put a finger on the touchpad center and tilt it left/right, up/down - You'll see that the cursor can be controlled quite well this way. And if you need a larger movement, then it's enough to move the finger the normal way.
Good luck and please come back with a rating/testimonial if helped.
Im having a similar problem , have you got it fixed yet?
I really need some help the scrolling feature on my Vaio VGN - FZ31S does not work at all and I have tried everything.
With most touchpads you hold down the left mouse button to select then move the cursor with the other hand by pressing a finger on the touchpad and dragging it.
Be sure your touch pad is not disabled - usually a button near it with an indicator LED.
ive tried re-installing the driver and installing it back but it didnt helped. can you suggest anythng else.plz??????
