Once you punch a hole in the receptacle, what type of screw cap would fit.

Most of the hose/drain connections i have seen on these have a std gardenhose fitting so you can use a std garden hose to direct the water over to drain, caps for garden hoses are easyly available from any garden supply store , but i do caution you on your thought process of hooking up a hose makes this a maintence free option, it does not as hose and filters still need constant cleaning , especally in high humidity seasons

What sixe diameter tube do I use to hook up to empty dehumidifier

Hello Friend, that's a great question!

In order to better assist you I would need your model number please. The serial tag, which lists your model number, is typically located behind the bucket on your dehumidifier. With this information I can provide you the correct part number. Thank you! - Z

Trying to use the hose rather than emptying the bucket but water continues to drip onto bucket even tho connection to hose appears snug

This may not help because I'm not sure of what you have, but most dehumids when using a hose hook to a fitting on the tank. If that's what you have, before you hook the hose you have to either punch a knockout in the center of the hookup on the tank or cut it out. Hope this helps.

I've lost the manual. Can I hook a hose directly

yes you can, but you may have to drill it out to let the water out

Help! Water keeps filling the tank instead of going out the hose

Had the same problem. Make sure you tighten the house a little with pliers. Also, make sure the dehumidifier is up a lot higher than where you're draining it into. Mine drains into a utility sink. But I have the dehumidifier propped up onto a dresser. I cut a small piece of hose to run into the sink. Seems to be working now.

It will take 5 min or so to establish a water flow, so be patient after you hook everything up. Good luck.

Water goes in reservoir, not thru hose to sump pump, leaking

blow some air thru the discharge line,, thats all it is the line is clogged, if the pan is filling with water, it is working but they do get clogged with dust and lint in the air,,

Dehumidifier emptys in the floor.

Check the float first - be sure the styrofoam on the bottom is still intact.  Be sure that you can move it up and down freely (and easily) with the bucket out of the machine.  If that is not bound up, and the foam is in place, next check the switch in the dehumidifier itself.  It's directly behind where the float goes - the way to test it is to turn the dehumidifier on and push the metal tab in with your finger.  The machine should cut out immediately - if it does not - the microswitch needs to be replaced.  (they're very cheap, and simple to replace)

Hose Drainage

yes, that is what the knockout port was designed for. Make sure the hose you get does actually thread onto the hose connection port before you punch out knock out. The hose should be a standard garden hose connector.

Missing hose adapter

It might be a problem since these units were made by Fedders for Maytag which is now owned by Whirlpool :inhale: but I found part number FD9520-010 "drain hose". If not, a length of dishwasher drain hose with a male garden hose fitting on one end would work fine

Drain problem

I have the same problem and after talking (mostly waiting) with Fedders repair, I have been told how to solve the problem. Plug up the drain hole on the right side (the one not connected to the drain hose). The drain hole extends down about 5mm, outside measures 10mm and interior measures 7mm. They do come with a drain hold cover. Not a replaceable part with a number. Off to the hardware store.
