Fn + F4 = makes the keyboard brighter
Fn + F3 = makes the keyboard dimmer

Try to navigate to your SPECIFIC (exact model and serial number) machine and download the HOTKEY related files. and the correct user Manual to find out the right hotkeys for keyboard light.function.

Hello. This is what I do every time my keyboard lights go off. Go to program. Click open Asus Utilities, Click open e-driver, which will let you down load all the drivers for your Asus computer. You should see a number of options you can pick to down load or pick ATK Package for keyboard lights. I usually down load everything in case there was an update for my drivers.

I recommend reinstalling Windows using the original recovery media from Asus. That should have all of the original drivers and software needed. You can alway upgrade to Windows 7 ultimate after that.

Hold Fn key and hit the light key several times to increase the screen light.

There are three little clips at the very top of the keyboard itself, if you lightly push them in starting at one side while very lightly prying on the keyboard you can lift it out and then just unhook the ribbon cable. That's it, really simple actually!!!
