make sure that the dvd burner is getting enough power test all leads that are attached to the dvd burner including electical extensions and make sure they have a secure connection or just replace them there might be bad/faulty or
your drivers may have been corrupted or you might have a virus run your antivrus program
you might have to physically unplug the leads for this cd/dvd burner then plug them back in or
you might have to uninstall then reinstall your DVD/CD or uninstall the driver then reinstall for this device
control panel admistrive tools,computer management,device manager scroll down cd dvd rom drives right click you can you can update driver,roll back driver,or
select properties general troubleshoot, select driver click to reinstall drivers click update driver or uninstall then reinstall

I have lost my cd driver for LG DVD rewriter

I'll recommend you to directly try Driver Detective and let the software have a free scan to automatically detect & update the missing LG drivers. This way things can be much easier & efficient. Also you don't have to risk install wrong drivers which might cause severe system issues.

When you formated you erased the driver you need to use your dvd writer as a dvd writer and player. If your dvd-rom came with a cd use it to reinstall the driver and program it uses. Otherwise you can search for your driver thru the manufacturer website or go to www.driversguide.com and find it there.

I had the same problem with the GH22 Internal drive on vista. Assuming this is the only cd drive you have, just go to the device manager and remove/uninstall anything under "DVD/CD Rom Drives" then restart. It should get picked up and recognized properly. It took a couple of restarts to work. For refrence, I only have the LG GH22NP20 installed, what appears in device manager are 2 items... (1)HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GH22NP20 SCSI CdRom Device... (2) KU1051Q EAG855E SCSI CdRom Device... Incase you have multiple cd drives, this should help tell em appart. Enjoy. IDK399

Its a problem with the windows dma seting for drives. In "device manager", open properties for ur drive and your interface like IDE/ATA controller. There, you can check and change DMA Settings.

Allow max DMA. Do not disable DMA.

U can also check DMA setting on BIOS if ur bios supports it.

Well, since I received a solution from MAXTRIXKHAN, I just wanted to check back with NCIX.com, and here is a recap of what I did, and what they told me...

After a few tries, I had to contact LG Customer service.
I tried to burn to...

-Maxell CD-R, no problems,
-TDK DVD-RW, no problems,
-Verbatim DVD+R, Computer hangs.

Well, I bought this DVD-Writer to replace my old GSA-4167B, and LG customer service told me that this DVD-Writer does not support the Verbatim DVDs.

So, if you have plenty of Verbatim DVDs, you should forget about this writer.
