What's wrong with my Beocentre?

What's wrong I have a bang and olufsen beocentre 7002. worked fine when i got it. Both turntable and radio good, I knew the tape pleayer was gubbed when i bought it. Them all of a sudden the arm goes to the record and the turntable stops when the needle hits the record. I start it manually it plays but it sounds bad, distant and cracklyhiss. I thoght I had damaged the stylus but the radio now sounds bad too. Has something gone inside?

If the sound is affected on all systems then yes something has gone inside. Try a pair of headphones, if the sound is still bad, then either the pre-amp has failed or the power amp.

My bang and olufsen beocentre 2300 plays for a few minutes then cuts out. We have had power to it switched off for several days and was told this is result. How do I fix?

It is normal to see this center will go of after a few minutes when it is in tape player mode or CD player but no playing. Only in mode "Aux" and "radio" it is permanently "on" until "off" by hand or remote. . If problem persists in all modes then obviously something is not right with control system. You may try "my" idea - switch off, remove mains cable plug and press remote key for example "radio" like normal control. After plug mains back and check if changed. In my center I have other than yours control malfunctions and I do not blame unit but electronic interference or mains voltage defects.

My bang and olufsen 7002 wont select the phono stage

The Phono/Aux input has a slider switch to the left of it to choose whether to make it a regular line-in jack or to utilize the phono stage. The ground terminal is just above the jacks. The Beogram 4002 likely has a muting circuit that's in effect when the tonearm is in the lift position, which would explain the lack of hum til the stylus lowered to the record.

Beocenter 7007 lights but no power

It is likely the audio output ic has failed, check the speaker wires for shorts, if okay! you will need a professional to take care of this.

Beocenter 7002 tape deck starts and clicks off within 2 sec.

If the take-up spool (r/h) doesnt turn the autostop will activate. Both these spools get clogged with old grease with age, remove and clean/regrease them, check all belts while apart and replace any limp ones.Removing the tape deck requires some knowledge.

B & O Beocenter 4600: The record player won't spin

the turntable wont spin unless a record is on the platter, the centre 45 adapter weighs the record to determine 33/45.try pressing 33 and turning the platter by hand(remove expensive cartridge first!),if it starts to spin the motor leaf switch is at fault.is the belt in position.the motor pulley can become unglued.

Bang and Olufsen 1980s Sound System. Broken input jacks for turntable. Broken Tape deck. Local repairers say they can't repair it because no spares

You will have to pay for the labor, if it's just truly broken RCA phono jacks, you can have them replaced by any ham radio guy or electronics guy with a soldering iron. It won't look perfect, but it will work just fine if it's only the jacks and not the switching circuitry. Radio Shack even carries (carried) single RCA chassis mount jacks to fix this.
