There are two possibilities, you have to check to confirm. Either the two were physically wired in parallel or through programming they were configured to ring simultaneously. Start by checking if the two were physically wired in parallel. One way would be to establish how many extensions you have altogether and is it equal or less than the total number of extension ports available on the KX-TA308?
Why? A TA-308 as well as all Panasonic systems run on 24 volts, even the TDA/TDE. The quickest way to do that, and very expensive, was a Proctor Long Line Adapter (46222/46224). The only time we ever had to use one was to bring up the line voltage of a Merlin Legend extension to interface to a Panasonic system we were using as a factory intercom. The intended purpose is for off-premise extensions as they provide high voltage ringing and protect the system it's attached on.
Panasonic made 2 TA-308's, one for the US market and one for worldwide. It's similar in operation to the 624 and those manuals are available on the internet. There's not much to them, it has 11 modular jacks and 2 1/8" (350mm) jacks on the side (top) that interfaces to the 3 lines and 8 phones with music and paging ports. At the least, there's an installation manual and a user's manual. Later systems added a separate programming manual.
Now here's a problem. What country? In the U.S., the TD-308 came carded 3x8 with 4 universal ports and 4 digital ports. You could plug a digital phone into ports 5-8 or buy the extra card to get analog PITS phones into the ports.
That said, check your installation manual. Here's a little insight into the various Pana products throughout the world. Since your TA-308 and our TA-308 aren't the same, I can't help you much.
