These links will show the location of the temp sensor. The tranny pan has to be removed to access th sensor.

I presume you are referring to your 'Gas Gauge'.
The gauge could be defective, however it's most likely the sending unit, which is a float connected to a varible resistor or rheostat.

fuel filter is part of the pump-sending unit and not servicable as a single unit

Remove the hub if the axle nut is loose. Look at the inside of the spindle, you'll see three bolt heads. They hold the hub and bearing in place. Once you remove them, the hub and bearing will come out giving you enough clearance to pull the axle out through the hole.
