Mitsubishi VS-50607 50" Rear Projection Television Logo
Posted on Oct 30, 2007

The VS 50607 won't turn on.

The screen went to a purple color, then very distorted, as if the screen became half the size, then shut down.  The error code stated 2-3.  What is the fix for this problem?

I'm not sure of the fix, but my manual says the 2-3 error code is due to Horizontal Deflection Failure. Hope this helps. I just uploaded my service manual, it should be available in 24 hours pending fixya's approval.

It cvould be t5he processor could have some garbage in it and you need to unplug it fro 40Min, to do a complete reset on the processor. Also if it turns all one color before shutting down, then that color Sceen voltyage needs turn down.

Mitsubishi VS-55609 distorted Picture Flickers

Projection TV sets are known to have two common problems. The first problem that is common to these sets is convergence failure. When this happens the TV will usually look 3D, Wavy/Distorted, etc. It may also shutdown and blink an error code.

The second common problem with Projection TV sets is dull video, halos around objects, white looking video, or red overpowers the screen. This is commonly caused by the fluid in the lens being clouded overs. To get fixed either call in a local TV repair company or goto sites such as Tv Repair Kits to get a repair kit with instructions. Here is there link.

They have put together complete kits for most models that include the parts, step by step photo instructions, repair assistance, etc.

This is a convergence problem and not really a DIY Many amateurs try it to save money but end up spending more on it than a professional. There are dozens on here that managed to fix it for a day or two only to have it fail again.

cost of fix about $300.

Vs-50607 turns off by itself it might come on after about 8hrs

if you hold menu and input on the front panel it will blink a code to tell you
where the error likely is. hold the buttons for 5 seconds and you'll get a 2
digit error, like 1 2 = no error..
“12” ... indicates no error has occured.
“21” ... X-Ray Protect circuit.
“22” ... Short Protect circuit.
“23” ... Horizontal Deflection failure.
“24” ... Vertical Deflection failure.

let me know what you find.. it will determine area of failure

Mitsubshi vs50607 picture flickers and after some time shuts off and won't turn on for about 1 half hr.

Bad connections on deflection yolks will cause this prob
kinda tricky to resolder but anyone handy with an iron could do it

TOP OF PICTURE FLIPS DOWN VS-50605

try hitting the side of your set to see if you can get it to jump out of place. If your can get if to fail by doing this your convergence amps have bad solder joints.

Shutdowns

How long does it come on? If on then off, possible short somewhere, if turns off during movie, maybe weak power supply.
