Was ok when turned off at noon turned on at 9PM and standby light flashing constant green no picture or sound
Sounds like the main system control-chroma IC fault. These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power led, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. Viewing it in "Mosaic" will make surf easy.

The red light should be blinking a code. For example it will blink 4 times pause then 4 times pause or 5times pause 5 times pause, whatever the error might be. Let me know what it is and then we can help more.

4 times blink error shows that any FAN is not running in TV as there are 4 fans in this TV.
Please check fan connectors and make sure all are plugged securely.

Really? Nobody has a better solution? I have the same problem and the tv's about a year old. That's it!
Crazy!

Most likely this is caused by a defective main board. Changing the main board will fix the issue about 95% of the time.
To be absolutely sure, the voltages need to be checked on the power supply. If they are not the values listed in the service manual, then you should replace the power supply instead (accounts for the other 5% of the time).

Hi,
There is a power fault with one of the PCB's inside, contact Sony if you are still in warranty, if not contact a Sony service center as it will need an engineer to open it up to repair it.
Thanks

Thanks to all the experts that viewed my problem. I ended up uplugging TV, waiting approx. two minutes, plugging back in and it worked great with vibrant color due to the new bulb.
