The top drawer of our double drawer kitchen aid dishwasher won't stay closed. The dishwasher will run if I prop something against it, but otherwise it just pops open and pauses the cycle.
The lock lever on the unit --- that is shaped like a U --- if you have it ---may be bent a little. You can move it to the correct position - usually down a little --and your door will stay closed

It depends on your water pressure. Mine runs a cycle in about 25 minutes, with 92 psi water pressure. Before changing all the pipes in my house, I had about 30 psi and it took about 45 minutes. The longer it takes to fill, the longer it takes to do a wash.

Under the machine is the water inlet valve. if you take off the front end of that you find a filter which fills up with rust, and you can clean it out. If that doesnt work, repairclinic.com will sell you a new valve for 32

Check the power source to the machine.
If all power connections to and within the machine are O.K. then, it is most likely your door switch or worst case, the control board.
Best to get a technician to diagnose the problem.

I thought the metal bar had to be locked into place somewhere in the black latch. This was not the case. I just put the white plastic latch in place in the slot in the door and closed the panel and the metal bar went into the correct position against the black latch.
