Acer aspire 5050 cd burner not working

Hello download the driver here:

Please select your windows system.

Download the driver and unzip the file before you install.

If the model is wrong select the right one here:

Select first notebook.
Next aspire.
The model number.
And your windows system.

Acer says to create the restore CD's, you should:

Boot to Windows XP
2 Press <Alt> + <F10> to open the Acer eRecovery Management utility.
3 Enter the password to proceed. The default password is six zeros.
4 In the Acer eRecovery Management window, select Recovery settings and
click Next.
5 In the Recovery settings window, select Backup snapshot image and
click Next.
6 Select the backup method.
a Use Backup to HDD to store the backup disk image on drive D:.
b Backup to optical device to store the backup image on CD or DVD.
7 After choosing the backup method, click Next.
Follow the instructions on screen to complete the process.

If you cannot do this, you should email Acer support to order the CDs.

Its overheated,just change to a new one or it may end of fireon you laptop.

You need to delete the upper and lower filters in the registry for the cd drive..

What driver are you talking about? Go to http://global.acer.com/ support/ download .htm copy paste this in your browser and take out the spaces before hitting return.

Select your location. Click your country. Then on the left side click drivers and downloads.

then select notebook .... the next windows scroll to ASPIRE 5050 ... then select the desired driver from the next windows.

Ok, check your RAM, reseat or clean it with soft eraser, only its edge connector both side. Do this when unit is off and no other power source is connected to it even its battery.

I hope i can help resolve your problem for you.
this may be a problem relating to your system device driver files.
Try This:-
go to My Computer/Control Panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager. at the bottom of the page you will see USB.
If you have any yellow symbols ( exclamation Marks ) then the driver has been corrupted, or installed incorrectly.
if you have a system restore disk. this may solve the problem for you. or recovery cd.
