Set vcr to record after timer is set

You need to turn off the Timer and then add your new program to the schedule. Then turn the Timer back on (power off).
On most VCRs, the Timer is enabled by turning off the unit. Thus turning it on will work (as long as a program isn't currently being recorded). If a program is currently being recorded, press Stop to interrupt the programmed recording. Then add your new program - that doesn't conflict with other programmed recording or exceed the number of available timed recordings for the unit. Then turn off the unit.

At least one VCR I owned was a bit trickier. You had to press the Timer button on the remote instead of the power button.

I hope this helps.

Problem of Utilitech digital 8 outlet power strip timer

Copy following link to identify exact timer, and download possible manual.
http://waterheatertimer.org/GE-timers-and-manuals.html#striptimer

With this particular timer, press MODE and PRG button to clear timer programming.
When programming is complete, press CLK button to enter current time setting and end programming.
Then press Mode button until Auto indicator displays.
Make sure current time is correct, and that correct am-pm selected.
Make sure that on-and-off programs are set for same days-of-week, or conflict will cause timer to work erratically.
If timer is defect, buy another timer at Lowes and return defect in new package.

SunSmart 15312 - timer has power and will turn lights on/off manually but will not turn on/off automatically after setting program.

Sun Smart is new GE timer.
http://waterheatertimer.org/GE-timers-and-manuals.html#15312

There is no repair for defective timer, except buy another at Home Depot and return defect in new package.
When I bought 15312 timer for testing, I found many packages at Home Depot were taped together as if people returned the timer. The large aluminum fin shows that timer is expected to get warm.
When testing the timer, the door stuck, and the timer seemed cheaply made. Intermatic brand timers are more robust at this time.
The instruction manual is not clearly written as could be, and timer requires a lot of button pushes for each setting.

Because the instruction manual is complex, requiring multiple button pushes for each setting, I suggest writing out the steps to make sure nothing is skipped over.

If lights turn on-off with override, then timer should be wired correctly.
Be sure to reset timer before programming.
Press setup button twice to begin programming.
Check programming for conflicts and overlaps that will cause timer not to function as expected.
For example selecting days of week. If program1 ON says turn on at 7:00 pm all days of week, and program1 OFF says off at 9:00 pm Tuesday.
Another point of confusion is Dawn-Dusk-Time. If you want timer to turn ON at 7:00, then select Time.

It does not turn off why

Unknown if this is new ST01C timer, or older timer that worked before and stopped working.
Add a comment with more information if needed.

Timer can be defective. Battery can be low. Wiring is wrong. Timer programming has overlaps and conflicts. Program 1 is set but program 2 is not set. No programming is set. Short circuit on lights.

I suggest change battery and reset timer, then reprogram timer.
Write out schedule beforehand to avoid conflicts and overlaps.
Program 1 is ON and program 2 is OFF. Program 3 is ON and program 4 is OFF. etc.

I put the timer on my lamp and it stays on even if it's not the time that I set, and then it turns off when the time is up... Why does it stay on? And not go according to the timer?

For digital timer:
1) Timer is defective
2) Conflicting programming so timer does not perform as expected
3) Timer not set to correct mode.
4) Program 'off' is set correctly, but program 'on' is not set or 'on' time conflicts with other programming.
5) Current time not set correctly
6) Polarity on outlet is reversed or noise on the line. Check outlet with circuit analyzer.
7) Combination of factors listed above

New intermatic timer installed. I can turn on manually and it will turn off at designated time but will not prgress to turn on automatically.

If display shows, and timer turns lights on-off with manual override, then timer is wired correctly, and battery is good.
If timer will not turn ON at scheduled time, but turns OFF correctly, then best suspect is the programming.
Open following link for ST01C programming steps.
http://waterheatertimer.org/ST01C-program.html

Program1 is ON
Program2 is OFF
Program3 is ON
Program4 is OFF, etc

Review your schedule: Press Mode button until PGM starts flashing, and then press ON-OFF button until 01 starts flashing.
If Program1 cannot be set for some reason, then set your ON schedule on Program3 and ignore Program1. The timer does not mind if you have OFF set on Program2 and ON set on Program3 or Program5 or Program7 etc.

If you have multiple programs, for example different ON-OFF times for each day, then check for scheduling conflicts that will cause timer not to function as expected.

If timer is defective, contact seller about 1-year warranty.

Do not know how to set timer DT300 for Lights

Hi

Programming:
Set present time
Then set ON time for program 1
Set OFF time for program 1
Then set ON time for program 2
Set OFF time for program 2
Most timers will not function if there is a conflict in programming > for example Program 1 says ON at 6 and OFF at 7 and Program 2 says opposite or has overlapping times
When events are set, press SET once > this will put timer in RUN mode

If manual override works, and you set programming correctly, but timer does not carry out instructions, I guess the timer is no good.

Intermatic has 24 hour timers with 2 on-off per day
http://www.intermatic.com/products/timers/consumer%20indoor%20timers/lamp%20%20appliance%20timers.aspx
Intermatic has 7-day digital timers (all digital timers today are 7 day where you select the day that each program works)

Thanks.

I have a HB88RC Intermatic 7 day / 7 event timer. I have followed the "easy set instructions" I have program 1 set to turn on X-mas lights at 4:30 PM and go off at 11:30 PM. For all seven...

Just program it as noted previously and put the timer in Auto. Set the clock to 1 min BEFORE your earliest timer program is set to come on. When the clock hits the correct time, it will turn on. Then set the clock to the correct time and you're golden.

I have digital programmable timers (Model DT121 and Model DT11) that will accept programs, but won't turn the attached lamps on and off at the programed times. The batterys are new and I've had them...

DT121 Manual
http://www.intermatic.com/~/media/files/intermatic/products/instructions/timers/dt121c%20-%20english.ashx

All Intermatic manuals
http://www.intermatic.com/customer%20service/instruction%20manuals.aspx

Intermatic does not show DT11
Intermatic shows the DT121 is no longer available

If the display shows and you can set programs, then the battery is good.
Does the manual override work? This indicates whether the timer on-off switch operates.
If manual override does not work, then I discovered that timers are no longer any good

INTERMATIC DIGITAL WALL TIMER. ITS 15 AMPS AND 6 DAILY ON OFF SETTINGS.......DONT TURN ON

You didn't say if ST01C timer stopped working ... or if you are programming new timer and can't get it to work.

I assume you are programming new timer.
Intermatic: download EZ-instruction and full-manual so you have BIG print.

Troubleshooting in manual covers many things:
1)Press On-off button. You should hear audible click ... that tells you timer battery is good ... do the lights come on?? Load should turn on-off with manual override without programming. If load does not turn on, your wiring is wrong, a breaker is bad, a bulb is burned out, a 3-way switch on same circuit is bad.
2)Solution: review wiring diagrams > the key to wiring is black connects to Hot and blue connect to Load
Solution: If your black and blue wires are reversed, timer will not turn load on-and-off. Change them and see. Red wire is not used in 2-way switching.
3) Conflicts in programming cause timer to ignore program. For example program1 says ON at 7 and OFF at 8, but program2 says opposite.
4) Solution: make a chart of your programs
5) Solution: Reset timer and reprogram again being careful to follow instructions > instructions are tricky
