Camera will not turn off

I was downloading photos to my computer from the camera. All was fine when I went to take out the memory card to download the photos that were on the camera's harddrive and it froze (i' thinking I may have opened or turned something off too fast). Won't turn off when the door is in closed/off position. I've tried fresh batteries. Disconnecting and connecting USB cables. It won't trun off unless I take batteries out. Will turn on but will not get passed the Vivitar greeting screen you see before you start taking pictures. How can I "Un" freeze the camera??

Thanks!!

Hope

Try to make the camera to work with no card, no cable connected.
If it does the same, the camera needs repair or can be sold for parts.

You can try to reset all in the menu or set up.

ALTERNATE WAY TO TRANSFER PHOTOS AND VIDEOS TO A COMPUTER
If your photos and videos are stored on the memory card, then remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into an USB memory card reader. Connect this USB memory card reader and memory card into the USB port of your working computer. Your computer will see this as an USB Mass Storage Device or an external storage device; you can then open the folder on the memory card and copy the photos to your computer. Memory card reader is a handy device and is inexpensive. You can copy photos from other cameras and you can also download photos off your memory card to someone else's computer without the need of installing any programs.

The camera was plugged to computer and downloaded photos. I left the camera plugged in and batteries went dead. Now camera won't turn on.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing and it is not a good idea to download from camera to pc using batteries because if the batteries go dead you can lose all your images. If you download again put new batteries in first or better still put the memory card straight into a pc or a printer and view and print from the card, or if possible fine out if you can buy a mains lead for your type of camera.Try reformating your card either through a card reader or from the camera with FRESH batteries and it should work again. The file/directory structure was probably corrupted when the camera was trying to work with dying batteries. Let me know if this helps

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5 does not recognise my memory card

1. Go into the menu and find "reset"...follow the on-screen instructions. 2. With no card in the camera, go into the menu and find "format"...follow the instructions.. 3. After downloading any pictures from the card, insert it into the camera and do the "format" thing again. everything should work now. Remember, never use the computer to format or erase your card...always use the camera. Also, when removing the card from the computer, always use "safely remove hardware" icon at the bottom right of your computer screen.

I can't access current photos from memory card, only old photos show up stored in built in memory. Also can not access "copy" from the menu, and nothing will download to my computer. All this worked fine...

"copy" is accessed from the playback menu. If that isn't available, decide if the pics stored in the internal memory are important. If not, format the camera with no memory card inserted to erase the internal memory. If you need those pics, then download them to your computer first...then format. Next, go into the menu and find "reset"..follow the on-screen instructions. Then, purchase an inexpensive card reader and download the pics from your memory card to your computer.(and promise yourself to use the card reader from now on...and remember that after downloading, use the "safely remove hardware" icon in the bottom right of your computer screen...don't just yank out the reader!). Finally, format the card in your camera and promise yourself never to use the internal memory again.

Viewing photos on camera after downloading

your memory card has a virus! try formatting using camera. make it a habit that whenever you reinsert the memory card in your camera format it first before taking shots, this will erase everything including virus!
