You've blown a capacitor and probably the horizontal output circuity. It's time to get a new LCD monitor.

4-year-old 50-inch flat screen made a loud 'bang' and picture went out. The noise was more mechanical than the type of pop or snap you'd expect if a capacitor blew. The audio is still ok.

Depends on the physical size of the cap; there are some larger ones in your set that would produce a 'bang' but you should also have gotten a whiff of the airborne chemicals then.

Pop goes the weasel...

Chances are a capacitor has blown. They normally make such lovely poping noises when they die.
What will of course now be happening is the voltage inside where that capacitor was will be unstable and it could very well completely fail in the near future.
I would reccomend you get it to a repair shop sooner rather then later for a cheap simple repair rather then an expensive monitor replacement.

Loud bang, unit stopped working

I have seen the caps in the power supply vent, which means they get hot and the top pops up and splits open, resulting in the "bang" sound. If you have experience in electronics then remove the back of the set and examine the power supply, looking for any caps whose tops are bowed upward, and replace.

Dead Phone

I have the exact same problem. It is completely dead but sometimes when I go to turn it on the screen will flash white and the speaker will pop. I tried different batteries and different chargers and I have no idea what the problem is.
