Screen goes black, power light stays green. display only stays on a couple of seconds

I have an optiquest Q19WB 19 inch flat screen monitor. Its not even a year old. Out of the blue one day the display went black, but the power light stays green. it does not go yellow like it does on standby. If I turn it off then on it will come back on,but only for 1 or 2 seconds. I have to keep doing this to get it shut down. It takes a while.

This happened to me and I was able to fix it. I cracked it opened and found a bad capacitor, bought a replacement at Radio Shack and I'm back in business. Actually using it right now to post this.

Well good for you then... LoL....... Unfortunately most users wouldn't know a capacitor from a baculum, so while this is a useful solution for the electronically inclined, the average user should simply stay away from this brand. Samsung products in general tend to be somewhat suspect at the lower price points. Do a little research and go with one of the other inexpensive brands that don't have as many complaints and view these cheapo models as disposable.

No display

Hello,

The Viewsonic VG1921wm monitor uses the same power supply board that the Optiquest Q19w uses. When that monitor has display problems like you are having the most common cause is bad capacitors on the power supply board. When the capacitors go out the power board does not put out the correct voltages to drive the back light circuits and the driver circuits so you get no display. There is a very good chance that this is the problem with your unit and it would be worth having a look at the power supply board. Here is a link to a repair guide for the Optiquest monitor and since they use the same power supply board it should help you check you board and show what needs to be replaced to repair it.

I hope this helps.

My monitor does not have a display on the screen. what is the problem?

Well without any more information from you i would check the power supply, the back light, the inverters and the list goes on.

Not much help because you did not mention if there is a stand by light weather it is blinking or not.

Viewsonic Optiquest Q19wb lcd Monitor goes blank after 2 secs. A couple of posts say replace the 1000uf 16v Cap My problem is i can't find them on the pcb (where are they?)

Look at the board where the AC power connector comes in that is the power supply board, there are more than one versions so it nay not have the same caps value.
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed Viewsonic/Optiquest monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Viewsonic Optiquest Q19 blanks out - just a year old

Sounds like the LCD panel inverter is going out, if not gone out completely.

ViewSonic 19" flat screen monitor goes black - intermittently

Hi,
There could be a problem with your display card settings or the display card itself. If you are using Windows operating system, make sure that you have the monitor driver installed for that specific monitor. This is to ensure that Windows only allows settings for which your particular monitor was designed.
Let me know if I can assist you any further regarding this.
Best wishes,

Monitor flashes on then goes black.

I think you have the display shut off. the button on the bottom left will shut screen off. It will come on for a few seconds if you touch the screen, but will shut off again. just push the display button again and it should stay on.
