Belkin wireless router model 7633

I have a desktop running windows XP and a laptop running Vista Home Premium.  I have purchased a Belkin 7633 and after some difficulty connect to the internet via my desktop.  I cannot at the moment access the internet with Outlook Express to get my emails.
My main problem though is my laptop I am being told that I am connected to the internet but cannot actually do this, it is saying that it is connecting but nothing happens.  I feel that there is nothing too badly wrong but I am just not able to solve this problem
I would be so grateful for some help.  I am an enthusiastic computer user but not a terribly experienced one
thanks
Jennifer

I have 3 Belkin 7633 ADSL2+ Modem with wireless routers and none of them work properly.

They work beautifully at first but after about 30 mins of being idle, they stop responding. You can no longer connect to the internet or to the unit for that matter. The laptop says signal strength is excellent but the unit does not respond. The unit has to be rebooted before it will work again. I contacted Belkin and they suggested I upgrade the firmware which I did but this did not fix or alter the problem. These are version 6001 and firmware version was 6.01.06 and upgraded to 6.01.08.

The wireless TCPIP settings are correct as they do work beautifully until they are left idle.

I think they are just a bad product.

    Thanks

    Kim

Belkin router not giving signal to linksys adapter HELP!!!!!

I dont think belkin has a stable driver for win.7 at this time. I have a belkin n router with a belkin adapter and had no luck.
Some people have had some success using a Vista driver.
You could go to www.bioticaindia.com and download a win 7 driver there. They show a 48% success rate.

Problem with downloading router driver/firmware

You don't need software for the router. Is your wireless encrypted or open? Just view avaiable networks with your xp machine and choose your network to connect to. If you do have an encrypted signal use the vista machine and type in the ip address to the router in your browser window. I think belkins router ip is 192.168.2.1 or 192.168.0.1 Hope this helps, let me know

Wi-Fi isn't working

This could be a duplex issue. When you log into the belkin does is assign you an IP address? Have you used a ballpoint pen to reset the EMTA since you have connected the router?

Check the router settings, if the router is set to only use 802.11N wireless it won't pick up a computer that is using 802.11G or 802.11B wireless.

We have purchased a new notebook{higrade brand vista OS} to replace a packard bell using XP the XP laptop connected no problem the newone finds the belkin router but won't connect to the internet are...

Do you have a wireless security protocol enabled, and if so, what? Install a wired connection to the router (use an ehternet cable to connect your laptop's RJ-45--looks like a wide phone plug--into one of the Belkin router's network jacks). Go to the router's management page using your web browser (probably http://192.168.2.1). If you have not previously set the password in your router, simply leave the password field blank and CLICK "Submit". If you have previously password protected your Belkin router, use the known password. If you have forgotten your password... you'll need to reset your router.

Reest Router: there is usually a small hole into whiuch a pin or paper clip can be inserted for this purpose or a small button to press. Most Belkins--IIRC--have the button.

Once you are on the Belkin router's management page, look for the wireless link and set your security protocol to match what your wireless card is capable of, set the password, save and exit. Use the sasme password in configuring wireless networking in Windows.
