Philips 51PP9100D/37 Please help - our 2-yr old tv displayed a random error code and i couldn't take it out nor turn the tv off so i unplugged it. When i plugged it back on, there was picture but no sound! WHat could be the problem? Do we have to get it serviced? Thank you very much... - Karen
i have the same exact model it also happened when my t.v. was around 2 yrs. old. my wife sat on t.v. remote which caused a long code to display across the screen and resulted in no sound.i have the same exact model it also happened when my t.v. was around 2 yrs. old. my wife sat on t.v. remote which caused a long code to display across the screen and resulted in no sound.

Its a convergence problem. The three color guns have drifted and it shows on the edges. Typical of an old projector tv
These will help

I suspect that you may be using a cable or sat box rather than that set's internal atsc tuner. Sometimes these boxes are not set up properly or reset themselves to a lower resolution. Go into your box's settings menu nd look for the resolution settings. Verify that all of the modes or at least the maximum resolution for your set is enabled.
i had same problem. i took apart my tv and found there was debris stuck between the plastic push power button and the little sensor thing it touches. having it on it would randomly turn off. i adjusted it and it was fine. but now it just pops a fuse lol. hope it helps.
The led code indicates vert failure for one. ( 3 blinks )
The 2 blinks indicates excess beam current of which could be your picture tube or re-adjusting the G2 voltage on the HV transformer which is very critical on philips sets.
