My Philips 30PW8420/37 is approximately 2 years old and it died while watching a movie Saturday night. It will power on, you can hear the high voltage come up, hear sound for about 2 seconds, then it will power down. You never see any raster on the screen. I'm getting an error code on the LED next to the power button that repeats over and over. One long flash, two short flashes, then three short flashes, and then it will repeat. I have unplugged the set for an hour, two hours, and 24 hours and it doesn't change anything. I called Philips support and all they did was tell me to plug it into a different power outlet, then gave me a phone number for a local service center. I had a year or radio and TV repair in high school and have worked with electronics since 1974, so I am capable of replacing parts if needed and am fully aware of the dangers of working around CRT's.
Any ideas for a fix or what the LED code indicates? If anyone has a service manual or a Sams Photofact for this model that might be very helpful.

The led code indicates vert failure for one. ( 3 blinks )
The 2 blinks indicates excess beam current of which could be your picture tube or re-adjusting the G2 voltage on the HV transformer which is very critical on philips sets.
So is this HV transformer something easy to change at home without good experience

My philips 30pw8420 died too. Power up is no problem but, screen is black and I get one solid green light, then five short green lights and then two short green lights.
Then it repeats itself.
I am also looking for the problem.
It seems I should have done some research before buying this TV.
TV is only 2-3 years old.

our philips 30pw8402/37 tv turns off then back on by itself. we're looking for a service manual to include wiring diagrams. our set is only 3 years old. If there is one available please let me know. thanks
