Adjust the choke. If the choke is ok the take the top off the carb first thing in the am and see if the float bowl is dry. If it is dry you need to find out where it is leaking fuel.

Testimonial: "the float bowl has 16mm of fuel as per the manual when you take carby apart choke has been adjusted as per manual no visual signs of air entering the system either"

Fix the choke to work properly for starters next if you still have the original cast iron manifold then get the butterfly in the exhaust to work as well. It heats up the inlet manifold which helps to vaporise the fuel

SOURCE: If the fuel pump in an Holden Barina 1998 model is

Yes you can just change the fuel pump, there are genuine and aftermarket options available, You need to remove the original pump from the cradle and this will allow you to confirm the size of the replacement pump.

2004 Holden barina won't start when cold Had fuel pump replaced

In order to start and run an engine needs: -
A good cranking speed.
The correct amount of fuel delivered into the combustion chamber at the right time,
Good compression.
A spark sufficient to ignite the mixture at the right time.

An engine that doesn't start has at least one requirement missing and only systematic checks will reveal which.

Considering the age of the car I wouldn't be surprised if the injector spray patterns are bad and I suggest you begin there.

I have just replaced the gearbox in a Holden viva 2005 Auto . But now it won't start unless I put fuel down the carbie but than stops when the fuel rus out . I have checked and there is spark and fuel

Injector pulse is needed also . You can have good fuel pressure to the injectors but if the injector receives no ground pulse it will not run .

Holden 179 engine blows black watery liquid out of exhaust when first started

very typical of the engine with a carby on cold mornings
the black is soot form running too rich and the water is condensation from starting a cold engine and the humidity turning to water vapor until the exhaust system heats up
if you have an automatic choke
adjust it better
do a carby tune up --check float level, make sure the air filter is clean

Tractor starts , but wont run

check float level and operation. check that the idle circuit is clean and if there is a solenoid in the idle circuit ensure that it is working. If the fuel tank is above the carby check for filter / line blockage and that the tap is turning on. as from your description the is insufficient fuel getting to the carby and the bowl is running dry

Slightly worked v6 motor and need appropriate carby to fit

I suppose you are thinking holley . Unless you have drastic rework done then most 3 to 4 litre engines will run good with a 450 or 500 holley. Personally I would go for the 450 as too much fuel tends to put out the fire and the full potential of the engine is lost

I put to much oil in my car ,need to drain oil

Look for a sump plug in the bottom of the engine. If you only want to take a small amount of oil out do it cold engine, so as to not burn yourself with hot oil.

How do i fix my carb in my 1989 toyota pick up its not getting any gas somewhere

Are you sure its the Carby as it could be the fuel pump as they have a lot of problems with the pumps and so remove the puel pipe from carby and spin over engine.. If still no fuel then go to the fuel filter and if dirty replace it (it should be on the chassis or under the bonnet and try again if still no go then try tipping a small amount down the carby throught and then start if starts the carby float or main jet is faulty /but fuel must come out the fuel lines first
before carby faulty job...

Wont take fuel when first started when cold

ruff guess from the sounds of it your fuel line going to either filter, fuel rail(if multi point) or carby will have a small crack or hole you should see moisture round it when it is running but if carbyed the needle and seat may not be closed properly as ive had the same probs in me old xf 250 cross flow
