There is a short in the amplifier that is causing the fuse to blow. Most likely shorted output transistors.

SOURCE: Sony STR DE-445 unit powers up but no sound

Check the fuse, Sony is known for its random problems with sound. The one I have you must tap it on the side. Its a flicker switch inside.

Sony STR DE835 receiver - no sound from speakers and headphone jack

The problem is in the audio output semiconductors, they have shorted causing the fuses to blow and it is in auto protect mode to prevent further damage. I recommend a professional to assess.

Sony STR DE 197 Reciever with No Sound

I have the same unit. My best recommendation would be to remove all speaker wiring, and try new wiring with another pr of speakers, since the "outdoor " speakers were rained on. the protect mode that the unit went into sounds like it did because the speaker outputs were shorted due to the rain, so ensure that the speaker output terminals are not shorted and dry...also see if output is still availalable at the headphone jack...if it is, the pre-amp section is still good , in which case the protect mode and no volume output out of the speaker jacks may mean that youve blown the ouput trasnsistor finals.
I hope this helps.

No sound out of left speaker

did the left channel work when u switched speakers, if so then the left speaker or wiring is a fault.if not then the output circuits on the amp are blown or the fuse is blown some amps have internal fuses in the output to protect the output transistors. unplug the power cord and take the cover off, look to see if u can find any fuses and check these for continuity u can hold these up to the light and u should see a fine filiment in one piece and not broken. these fuses sometimes blow just from age and use at high volume like a regular light bulb.If the fuse is blown replace with the same value else the output transistors will need to be replaced most likley along with the drivers.

Speakers shorted system

I know this was posted a long time ago but you never know who else this might happen to. The problem is one two fuses were blown. You'll need to replace them. All you have to do is open the case with a screw driver. The fuses look like little glass tubes less than an inch long. There are up to five fuses that you need to check. The fuses have a small metal thred in the center of the glass tube. If the thred is broken that is the fuse you new to replace. The fuses are not expensive. Less than a dollar each. All you have to do is pull out any fuse the has been blown. I'm guessing two fuses were blown.

No output on main speakers

I have experienced a similar problem with my Sony STR-GX57ES and took it to a certified tech only to find it needed the power supply replaced. I opted to hunt down a compatible power supply but have been unsucessful thus far. That being said I picked up an STR-D665 for next to nothing and found the power supplies to be quite different (you would hope so any, with the ES meaning Elivated Standard and all) but with the D665 working flawlessly I'd rather have something working than nothing. Good luck!
