Acer Aspire 5571 AWXMi Keyboard not working in 2003 Server

Hi,

I installed windows 2003 server on my Acer Aspire 5571AWXMi Laptop. while installing it in the last when setup asks for regional settings my keyboard and mouse stops working. I was able to install the server by plugging in a usb mouse but now i cannot even login since i cannot press ctrl+alt+del keys. I asked Acer support and they said they dont support for server family for this perticular model.

can you help me in solving this matter?

Rgds,
Khurram

It might not be a problem with the software.

With the power out I would try taking the keyboard out and reseating the keyboard into its slot.

Turn on the laptop and press F2 to see if you can go into the BIOS. If you can then you know your keyboard is working. If you can't get into the BIOS then you know the keyboard is defective and will have to be replaced.

If you can get into the BIOS also make sure to get out and let the laptop reboot, if you cant do the ctrl alt del to get to the login screen then you know its a Operating system problem cause it works for the BIOS but not for the OS.

Hope this helps cause now you know how to tell if its either software or hardware related.

I need to use windows server 2003 R64 bit as the operating system on the laptop

Hi there.
Sorry but Windows server 2003 relies on XP drivers, your laptop only supports Vista so the drivers will not work.
You can however test Server 2008 which will take Vista drivers, download and test it here >>>>>>

Sound Driver Is Not Supporting

Dear Abdul Raheem

These Server Operating systems have compatibility issues with some hardware. I would do the following:

Get updates from the 2003 Server site; it checks for drivers also and updates them.
Write Acer Tech Support, tell them you want updated drivers for XXXXX soundcard.

Put your CD with sound drivers in drive. Go to hardware install in C-Panel and ask it to search for updated drivers on the CD. Or Right Click My Computer> Properties> hardware and select the yellowed gizmos. One of them will be your sound. Right click and select UPDATE DRIVER with the CD already on drive. Follow instructions. If you don;t have such a CD for your soundcard, find the drivers from Acer tech Support.
