YOu should have option in the DVD you were watching..
When the menu plays you should have the option to switch it to 16:9 or 4:3, if this option doesnt have the menu, then you have to use the option from the TV, but this option doesnt work with the Scart lead, you should connect it throught the RCA cable to enable changing modes

you have a bad master and slave inverter board these are the skinny boards that go verical on the back of the unit
take you unit apart remove back and look at the back of the tv face down on a blanket remove all the screens take the back off remove those two board going vertical look up both parts on google or call or go to shopjimmys.com
there should be a something that you need to push in at the back of the stand that connects to the tele. Someone needs to push it in hard while someone else tilts the tele forward and up or back and up depending on which way the push in part goes. (Presuming this is a flatscreen tv)
MADE IN CHINA ? you may have problem with power supply is in standby mode because won't turn on the main power if you are lucky in power supply you can see some capacitors inflated from top replace them and be ok
Try plugging in a powered antenna.
The DTV coax input is for over-the-air HDTV transmissions which vary depending on your location and surrounding buildings. I have the LCT32HA36 hooked up to a powered antenna and it works fine, but it wouldn't work when I plugged in the cable from the wall.
stand by should be when the power button turns red. There is also an off mode but it requires you to use the button on the front of the tv. Only problem with this is the remote doesn't work when the tv is in the off mode.
