Our GE Profile Model PS123NG/PS123NS (stainless sidebyside) came brand new with our home. The home is about 3 years old.
Every now and then, the temperature for both the freezer and fridge gets warmer. What we do is move all the food out to another fridge, unplug the GE, and plug it back in. That lasts for about a week or so. It is out of warranty at this time. Is there a DIY fix for this? Thanks for any help.

Probably a loose thermister. The thermister being not attached to the evap coils tight might not be relaying back the proper resistances info for the control board to make a propper defrost determination.
Same model GE Profile. Temps would fluctuate, mainly in freezer. Had Sears technician come out and he did replace seal BUT stated these GE Profiles go through a 24 hr defrost daily and this is NORMAL for temp to fluctuate. So now we just deal with it and have never had problem with food defrosting. Usually fluctuates from -1 to 5 degreesSame model GE Profile. Temps would fluctuate, mainly in freezer. We have a GE Profile side-by-side refrigerator which we purchased in 2002, Model PSS25NGNACC. Today we had a repairman come to investigate why the Express Thaw 3lb. light was on and could not be shut off. If shut off, it came on again when the door was closed and reopened. The repairman called GE and learned that this light was an air filter change indicator which turns on at some interval (2 years, they said, although we don't remember ever seeing this before). The air filter involved is for the interior of the fridge and is not critical. GE said that newer master control boards have this function disabled, since people rarely changed the filter and GE no longer makes them. I have read our user manual cover to cover and find nothing on this filter. I guess we just have to pay the $70 dollars to have someone come and call GE to figure it out. But, enough of that. To reset the indicator, simultaneously press the following keys on the touchpad and hold for 5 seconds until it beeps:
Model # would be helpful, but most likely something going in with damper that controls airflow between freezer and fridge side. Also could be thermostat
I suggest you call a reputable local GE technician to come out and perform a service check on this unit. The fact that it has melted twice is a little scary, especially if you have new cabinets. I wouldn't wait, if I were you.
We certainly hope everything is resolved soon for you.
Find your model number and search from the FixYa home page. Scroll to the bottom, "find manuals", and your manual will probably be there. There is also a google search feature, if you need it, on that page too.

maytag has several great models and absolytly worth it remeber u get what u pay for . and any fridge u buy get the extened warranty that way no worries for awhile
There was a recall on some GE dishwashers, but yours was purchased a bit before those affected. Just to be sure, go to http://www.geappliances.com/products/recall/dw07/ and input your full model and serial number (including the last letter of the serial number). Of the models affected by the recall, I've personally seen (and have photos of) one that burned, plus one that was close to it. Recalled ones can be updated for free, or if you decide to replace, qualify for a rebate toward a new GE dishwasher. (the recalled ones had problems with the wiring inside the door) If your model is not one affected by the recall, I would contact GE customer relations via their answer center phone (800-626-2005) to report this potential safety issue.

Question is, if it is possible for me to fix it myself or do I need to call in the cavalry?
