Try the invertor board. Had the same problem. Just check the transformers for resistance then replace the bad one.

Did you ever figure out what was wrong with your x2Gen Mv32t8 television (sound with black screen). I've recently had exact same problem.

Any universal remote will have a code that you can program into the remote to work with 99.9% of TV's. Head to your favorite electronics retailer, and pick up one. Many good ones (around 30-40 bucks) have a code scanning option where it will try different codes until it finds one for your tv.

First, look at the screen in darkened room to see if you can see any slight glow from the screen, if not, next place to check will be the power supply module, make sure it has 24vdc which is required by the backlight inverter to work, the reason for not having 24vdc can be from bad DC filter caps (leaking/bulging top, high ESR) or short circuits in the inverter board which will cause the 24vdc supply to go into shutdown mode, so you may have to disconnect the power cable that feed the inverter board to see if the 24vdc will work without the inverter board hookup, you will need to apply about 3~4 amp of load to the 24vdc to make sure it can handle that. There are fuses on the backlight inverter boards also. So there are some troubleshoot you will have to do to find out the causes of the problem you are having.

Your best bet will likely be a Logitech Harmony remote. They are pricey ($100-$400) but they seem to have codes for all brands. Also bear in mind that you may not necessarily require the code for your TV, a code for a compatible TV will usually work.
