There is an Element Owner's manual on this site if you go all the way to the bottom and click on manuals when you first enter this site. I have read from reviews that this manual is not very user friendly but it will have what you are looking for.
After meticulously looking at the manufacturer's site (it dramatically changed since 2006), there doesn't seem to be a link for it anymore. However, it has resurfaced through this link:

If your burning oil, it,s either Piston-Ring Or Valve-gear wear.
I,d only test commpression, if a huge power loss is evident.
