My outlook keeps a draft after i send email out

I have several Hotmail & Outlook accounts and I can use the drop-down menu to choose which one to use as the sender but sometimes if I don't use the actual email account (as the sender) that I am actually logged into at that moment, then it will not send the email and will put it in the Drafts folder instead.
I went to the draft folder, chose the edit option and changed the sender email to the actual one that I was currently logged into, and that draft was FINALLY sent out.

Where can i find saved draft messages

hi,there is no separate folder for this purposes..unless you did not send it,
it stays in "Messages folder" within the incoming messages as draft that you can continue to write it on..if you "replied" someones msg it stays as "conversation thread" too..

Hope this helps! Take care and please Remember to rate/vote us

Have just spent no less than three hours preparing my reply to an email that is clearly of vital importance and all of a sudden it just disappeared off the screen. I desperately need to recover all...

Normallly if you were using an email client you create a mail then the mails would be automatically saved in your draft folder, check out in the draft folder if the email is present and if it is not there in that folder then the mail is lost and there is no way that we can get that back.

I wrote the long message and wanted to send it later. Later I could not find my written mesage to send email. I did not find outbox nor Draft symbol in the screen. How should I get my written message back

It should have been auto saved in the drafts folder. If it is not in the drafts folder, It is most likely gone. Outlook uses word as an editor and word will auto save every so often. It will place an .asd file in your temp folder. Your temp folder location will depend on your Windows version. I'm not talking about windows/temp. It is most likely under Documents and Settings\(your user name)\Local Settings\temp. The Local Settings folder is hidden so you must set your settings so that you can view hidden files and folders.

I suggest either making sure you save your message to draft every so often as you write it .. OR a better solution is to use Word. Word will auto save every so often and the document can be recovered.

How auto save works

How to view your Local Settings files/folders

hopefully you can find the saved file there.

When i reply to emails sometimes the message does not register in the sent folder but goes in the draft folder instead, how do i know if my email has been sent?

They will only go to the draft folder if you accidentally click the Save to Draft option instead of Send. It is very easy to do! If an email has been sent it will go, by default, to the Sent folder.

If you locate the email that you have replied to or sent then highlight it and then right click on it a drop down list will appear.

Select and click the View Full Headers option at the bottom of the list. This will give a popup window containing header info. If you read through it will show the following:

  1. From which should be your email plus the date and time
  2. a whole bunch of misc characters
  3. From with your name / email address shown
  4. Subject – whatever the email subject was
  5. To – Name / email address of who you sent the email to or replied to
  6. Content Type – plus some unintelligible info
  7. Content Length – which is the true size of the email plus any attachments.

If you can see this then it conforms that you message has been successfully sent from you email account.

Note: It does not show or guarantee that the email has been received or read at the recipients end.

My email are not delivered though yahoo says it has been sent. Any one can help?

hi this is kamal here to help u...

The message was never actually sent. Make sure you actually sent the message by checking in your Sent folder. Is it there? If not, you might not have sent it. Do you remember seeing the "Mail Sent" confirmation page that appears after clicking "Send"? It's a page that confirms your email message has been sent successfully.
The message was saved as a draft. Did you click "Save Draft" by accident? It's the button right next to "Send." Check to see if you saved a draft by clicking your Draft folder.
The message was not addressed properly. You might have accidentally entered a different email address than the one you intended, or entered a typo that actually turns out to be a real email address. Check to see if this happened by looking in your Sent folder. Take a close look at the address information. Did you write something weird?
The message was delayed. Most messages are delivered within a few minutes. But messages can sometimes be delayed while in transit due to heavy Internet traffic or routing problems. This kind of delay can last for several hours or more.
Other possibilities. Occasionally, interruptions or disruptions in email transmissions over the Internet render your message undeliverable. This is very rare, but it does happen. Unfortunately, aside from waiting, there is no way to know for certain whether a message has been delayed or whether it has been rendered undeliverable. The best solution is to re-send your message. You can find it in your Sent folder.
