Autoplay will not display automatically on my Dell Inspiron 1525 when I insert a disk. It does show in programs with the right settings but not when I click on the removable drive icon.

Hi, Have you tryed going into the Drive settings, open properties up right click go down to auto play setting, and in these setting you should be able to change them to auto play on all mixed content, make sure you click always use this setting/settings, i hope this fixes your problem.

SOURCE: Reformat on Dell Inspiron 1525

Yes, a reformat wipes the disk clean. There are special programs for this. The Dell recovery CD's (DVD's) will have the program. The usual command is "Format C: /v" without the quotes. The /v tells the program to verify every sector as it formats. Back up every thing that you need first as there are no second chances.

SOURCE: DELL INSPIRON 1525 not recognizing CDROM Drive

  1. ensure drive is recognized by the BIOS (It should be ID'd by model in BIOS
  2. If drive is seen normally in bios, then try the fixit utility in this link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060
  3. See if you can boot to the drive using your Vista DVD and run a repair my computer from DVD
  4. If none of the above works, replace the drive. If system will boot to DVD, then reinstall Vista

First thing you needs to install new windows via boot able CD.
Please do not start installing windows while running ur old windows. i mean please not upgrade ur windows to newer once.

Steps for installing fresh windows :
1. Make bootable win xp disk.
2. Insert Disk into drive and boot ur laptop with CD drive (If unable to boot then change BIOS settings)
3.Setup will automatically detect ur previous version of Windows.Just ignore it and start fresh installation and alll Done.
