Dell XPS M1330 PC Notebook can't connect to the external monitor

My Dell XPS M1330 PC Notebook can't connect to the external monitor? Does it need a different cable?

  • Anonymous May 06, 2009

        I have a VGA cable

        I tested with different monitors

        Device is working properly

I also checked my video settings, and it is not detecting the monitor.

Also, my hard drive was changed and since then the Speakers or the external monitors won't work.

No. You just basically need a VGA cable. Check your video settings.

Dell XPS M1530 won't recognize external monitor

The XPS1530 uses Vista so go to the control panel and choose the port that you have the external monitor connected to. I use an HDMI cable and need to choose both the audio and video separately in the control panel.

The XPS M1330 has no video card, the video circuit is integrated into the motherboard. To determine if the video circuit or LCD display is the culprit, try connecting an external monitor to the 15 pin VGA plug on the side of the laptop. If the display on the external monitor appears normal then your LCD on the laptop is the problem, if not then you need a new motherboard.

You need to check the device manager for any "!" symbols. They are most likely there for your audio and video drivers. This means that the current drivers installed are not compatible. See below for the correct drivers.

Internal Connection of Built In Microphones on the

go to control panel- sound and audio devices- click the voice tab- click on the "test hardware button"
follow the prompts. if it tests ok there and still doesnt work in something like skype, then you'll need to go through the settings OR setup wizard in skype in this example and choose the internal mic instead of the external which isn't there.

Is it possible to connect 2 external monitors to a dell xps m1330?

Yes, it is possible you can connect 2 or 2 billion external monitors, all you need is the extension cable, which is normally called a spilter or usb to vga spilter, and you can connect as amany as you want.
remember, USB to VGA adapter. or spilter.

There's plenty of evidence to indicate that using two screens is more effective than one; at least up to a certain point. There's also a strong indication that those two monitors need to be the same size, since your visual receptors seem to get confused by screens of different sizes. A recent Utah study indicates that using 2 20-inch monitors allowed people to complete tasks 44% faster than using 1 18-inch monitor, making a pair of 20-inch screens from Dell for under $600 sound like a steal. Since many people I know have switched to using a laptop as their primary machine no matter where they are, the trick of using two monitors (at least when docked) can be crucial.
The trick I use for connecting 2 external monitors to my own laptop is to connect one to the external video port on my laptop and a second monitor gets connected to a DisplayLink adapter. The adapter connects via USB allowing you to extend your desktop to another screen. They are sold under a variety of brand names which makes the adapters a little tricky to track down, but a quick search of eBay for USB to DVI Adapter turns up several options that are basically the same thing under several different names. DisplayLink also links to several online stores, although they do a lousy job of labeling which country each store serves.
