I would be happy to help with this, Shazia. To provide the best assistance, I would like to get more information. The remote currently doesn't work the TV or receiver, right? Do you get any function from the remote, like do any lights come on when you press a button? What receiver model do you have?

SOURCE: Dish IR Remote 20.0 has problems after sunset.

The problem for me was the TV giving off IR signals that interfered with DISH's poorly designed remote. When the TV's room ambient light sensor was turned on and it became dusk outside the DISH remote would stop working. Moving the receiver away from the TV helps but the problem is not eliminated until the light sensor is turned off.
Until DISH corrects this poor design there may be no other viable solution.

SOURCE: Dish Network IR Remote's SAT Mode Not Working ____

Hello, this is Nick Franta with DISH.

If you are trying to get the remote programmed to the receiver you can remove the smartcard from the receiver and that will prompt the system info screen. This will allow you to program the remote to the receiver.

If you need the process for programming the remote, here it is:

  1. Go to System Info screen (in this case -- obtain by removing smartcard from receiver)
  2. Hold down the SAT button until all mode lights light up.
  3. Enter a number between 1 and 15 using the numeric keypad on the remote.
  4. Press the pound (#) button
  5. Once the SAT button blinks three times, press record.
Hope this helps!

SOURCE: remote control interferes with second TV

si24

It is possible that the 2 remotes are on the same remote address. This generally is not possible if one remote is IR and the other is UHF but with some receivers you can have an UHF remote for you TV 1. To resolve this issue you would need to readdress on of the remotes to a different remote address. I have provided instructions on how to readdress the remote. I hope this helps.

  • Remote: All Other Remotes
    1. Go to System Info screen
    2. Hold down the SAT button until all mode lights light up.
    3. Enter a number between 1 and 15 using the numeric keypad on the remote.
    4. Press the pound (#) button
    5. Once the SAT button blinks three times, press record. Note: If successful the number selected in step 3 will appear in the System Info screen under Remote Address.

My remote is fully deprogrammed, how I can turn to turn on and off the TV and box

Hi, Cheri Torres with DISH Network Customer Service here. In order to help you reprogram your DISH network remote to your TV to control your TV functions such as power on/off of TV and volume, I would need the model number of the remote and the brand name of your TV. You should be able to locate the model number of your remote on the back of the remote at the top usually a 2 to 3 digit number with a decimal point. I will list here for you the instructions for reprogramming your remote to your DISH receiver to control your receiver functions. If you would also like me to help you get your DISH remote reprogrammed to your TV please email me directly at [email protected] with your remote model number and the brand name of the TV. I hope you find this information useful and if you have any further questions or concerns feel free to email me.

Instructions for addressing the remote to your receiver.
  1. Go to System Info screen. You can do this by either pressing the system info button on the front of the receiver or you can press the power button once and then the channel up button once on the front of the receiver.
  2. Hold down the SAT button until all mode lights light up.
  3. Enter a number between 1 and 15 using the numeric keypad on the remote.Change the number to something different then what is already listed in the small white square.
  4. Press the pound (#) button.
  5. Once the SAT button blinks three times, press record. Note: If successful, the number selected in step 3 will appear in the System Info screen under Remote Address.

Usually in most cases the tv remote will run the dish receiver properly. Try getting your dish receiver remote to work the tv, by typing codes for that model number of the remote.

With the TV 2 remote, it needs to be a UHF type remote. Since the signal goes through solid objects (walls, etc.), you should check to see if this remote has that capability. I have provided codes you can try to program the remote to the receiver. I hope this helps.
