Hi, I bought a lg plasma tv model 55LD520, and now my dish network remote won't work unless I'm literally 2 inches from the reciever. What can I do? Please help

Hi Robert, my name is Cheri Torres and I work on the Social Media Team at DISH. It sounds like your remote is experiencing IR(Infrared) interference from your LG TV. You can resolve this issue by converting your TV1 remote to UHF(Ultra High Frequency) instead of IR. In order to do this you will need a UHF remote, the 20.0 remote is only an IR remote. Hey Brandon Kinsley,

It does sound like there is an interference issue with the remote control. Make sure there are no sources of heat or light near the receiver, and that it has a clear line of sight. Other possibilities for interference could be equipment or some LCD TV's have been known to cause interference.

If you continue experiencing any difficulties let me know here and I would be happy to try other steps with you, or see about getting the right remote out so you can make the TV1 a UHF signal to bypass that interference.

Hello Norma! My name is Becki, with DISH Network. I hope that you have gotten this resolved and your remote is working, but if not, here are some simple steps to program it! I hope this helps!


1. Hold down the clear TV button until all lights light up at the top of the remote
2. Punch in a 3 digit code (provided below)
3. Press the # (POUND) button
4. Try powering the tv on/off, and the volume. If one or more of these functions do not work, start over from step 1 with a different code

Is this a new remote or the existing one? I have provided instructions on how to program the remote to your TV and to readdress the remote to your receiver. Select the model of the receiver you have, click on the link and the just follow the directions. The bottom portion of the page has links for TV codes to program the remote to your TV. If this doesn't work, you may need a new remote. I hope this helps.

Hi pappy63my name is Mike Houston of DISH Network and there are some steps that will getyour DISH Network remote to change the satellite channels. The first thing youwill need to do is press the System Info button on the receiver or pull out thesmart card from the receiver, with the remote press and release the SAT buttonand press the Record button and you will see the number in the white boxchange. Hello there!!!!! If your remote is giving you troubles, you can try a power scan, which scans through each code for the tv until you reach the correct one. Just follow the link provided below, and begin the scan. Remember when you are done programming your remote, press the SAT button on the top left of the remote. Hope this helps!!!

Check your batteries.. Trust me on this it happens lol..Also do you have anything on top of the tv like a VCR or DVD player? That can cause that also. If your able too control the reciver with the remote than it could be a number of these things. Just check ubstructions anything that can be blocking it. Some newer model tv's have a light censor that causes the remo too stop working as well. If its a newer model like an HD tv this could be your issue as well

To check that the code works try several differentfunctions on the remote to make sure it will properly operate the TV. Keep inmind that some codes may not be compatible with your equipment. i have dish network different brand tv but have codes for hitachi they are 1004,1006,1012,1013,1059,1060,1063,1135,1136,1145,1148,1179,1185. hope one of these helps
