Can't get info

I want to know if my Pertech 7Port USB Hub Master is USB 2.0.

I am on a Mac. So, it looks like it isn't 2.0, but can handle 2.0. I had a feeling because when I added a new hub, everything seems faster than those plugged into the Pertech.

    Thanks for answering.

Found this at a Mac forumn:

Per the Pertech company, when their website was up:

Compatible with USB2.0 Our hub works with peripherals and hubs that are
USB2.0 compliant. USB2.0 Peripherals must be designed to throttle down to
    USB 1.1 speeds

Belkin ultraslim not showing files

Try plugging the Belkin directly into your PC USB and see if the same condition persists. Some USB devices get the power from the USB plug, there may not be enough amperage available to power the hard drive you are using (not sure what type of hard drive you are reffering to)

HP LaserJet 2430 Printer Will Not Print since USB Power Surge Error

INSUFFICIENT POWER - USB PORT
If you get an error message "Insufficient power to operate USB device" when you plug a USB device into the computer's USB port or the un-powered USB hub that is attached to the computer's USB port, then this device is drawing excessive current that the USB port cannot supply. The maximum output from an USB port is 500mA. In case such as this, you need to purchased a powered USB hub and connect this hub into the computer's USB port and then connect the USB device into this powered USB hub.

Hi - You're presumption about the fix is correct. There is very little in terms of circuitry inside such a hub and even if one had circuit board level experience there would be no good reason to bother fixing it.

When you purchase another hub, remember in the case of such devices, a hub is a hub is a hub -- No reason to pay any name brand premium.

Not enougn power

Hi,

The limitation is actually imposed by the circuitry of the PC as supplied to the individual USB ports.  What you probably need is an externally powered USB HUB.  You will have to determine how much current your drive draws. An example of a max 1 Amp @ 2X500ma/Port is "7-port USB 2.0 hub" [AP-HUB207]. You can check out the specs here > http://www.mittoni.com.au/usb-20-powered-7port-hub-p-1920.html

Hope this be of some help/idea. Post back should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
