Dead Short, Where could it be?

I have a techniques SL1200MK2 Turntable that is giving me some problems. I have normal signal on my left side, and very low signal (if any) on my right. I've determined that there is a dead short somewhere. I removed the Tone arm and checked wiring to find that it is fine. I don't know what else to do, maybe it could be something within the circuitry?

Have you tried changing the output cable? Also, if you remove the headshell and touch the pins with a moistened fingertip, do you hear the same level hum from both channels? You may have a bad cartridge.

Left turn signal quit

Most probably is a short in left light wiring. I'd start at the connection for that side on the fuse box being it dims other lights when it's used.

Technics SL1200MK2 - audio issue with ''s'' sounds only

Try some anti-static record cleaner. You can also get an anti-static matt to put the records on.

One of my numark turntables tt 500 the left channel does not work. i only hear the music on 1 speaker. doe you know what to do?

Swap the channel cables from the turntable left to right to see if it follows a channel from the turntable or the same speaker is dead. If it swaps with the cable, then look for a break in the wire to the pickup on the tone arm. If the dead speaker remains the same, you have a problem in that side of the amp or the phono preamp.

I have a techniques SL1200MK2 Turntable that is giving me some problems. I have normal signal on my left side, and very low signal (if any) on my right. I've determined that there is a dead short...

Try swapping the turntable RCA cables around at the back of your aplifier or hi-fi to check if it is the same channel giving you problems. if the same side remains dead, it might be you RCA plug itself. Turn your "ballance" on your Amp, so that the channel that is still working, is muted. Jiggle the faulty plug around, and see if you get any noise from the dead channel. If that is the case, find an old set of RCA cables and cut one plug of to leave about 6 inches or so of wire. Do the same with the dead plug on the turntable, and strip both sets of wire back, and solder. Tape it up and give it a go

EVERYTIME I PLAY A RECORD IT DRAGS TO PICK UP SPEED

Are you sure you have a Technics SL1200MK2 Direct Drive Turntable? If so, then there is a major problem with the drive system. This can only be diagnosed and repaired by a qualified technician.

If your turntable is not the Techics SL1200MK2, and you have no idea what turntable you have, look at the model's label, if it says BELT DRIVE - this is the reason why it drags to pick up speed. If it says DIRECT DRIVE, then take it to a service center for repair.

Sl1200mk2

It's very simple. Next to the "tone arm" (the thing you pull across towards your vinyl, and place down to produce sound) is a silver piece which you slide up and down to change the pitch (the speed) of the vinyl. This can be increased even further by changing the 35rpm setting (button near the start/stop button) to 45rpm.

Hope that helps

Technics Turntable SL 1200 M3D Damaged top case

Your on the right track, however, a simpler solution would be to just buy a Faceplate for the unit.

You can purchase FACEPLATES @ 1200s.com
Although these are for the SL1200MK2 series - they don't make them for the SL1200M3D - you will have to drill a hole about 3/4" next to the pitch control, to make room for pitch reset button.
