Samsung DVD writer SH-S182 problem

The Burner does not close discs. when i burn data DVD's with nero, the burning and verification completes successfully, and I can browse the disc in explorer, but when I eject and insert the burned DVD again, windows considers it as a black disc.

I found a solution by updating the firmware - windows recognized it now as a DVD RAM drive and not as CD drive and it detects all CD's. You can download the firmware from samsung site

Dvd takes forever to burn on my dvd drive and I use nero as the burn software either the burn process fails or it take around 10 hours to burn a dvd at 16x

I would recommend trying a firmware update on the drive. What type of computer do you have? For example, HP has specific updates for drives at http://www.hp.com Otherwise, go to samsung.com and go to drives/downloads and search for what is called a "firmware driver" (firmware is software on the drive that will help it to either work better, or confirm you have a defective DVD drive.)

Hello my samsung sh-s182 dvd -+rw doual very slow burn [email protected]

First look and see the write speed of the drive. 1x to 4x is slow but recommended by all programs and this is initially the default settings for most programs. You must goto the settings of your dvd burning program and set the burn rate to 16x or higher.

Burned DVDs play on PC but won't play on home player. I have 3 PC (2HPs and 1 Parts built),running XP home, pro, media. I bought 2 Samsung SH-S182 DVD±RW Dual Layer Burner, and have tried them on all 3...

Nero 6 and 7 does not provides us the facilitiy of burning the DVD in appropriate DVD Format. Instead it burns the DVD in the normal DATA Format, which is not supportable by our DVD Player. To play the DVD in our DVD Player we should burn the DVD in the appropriate DVD Burner which itself converts the extension of the movie and make it proper for a DVD Player to read it. It also adds some files to the DVD which is sometimes used by the dvd player in running the DVD.

DRIVERS NEEDED

All optical drives use ATAPI drivers, these drivers are native to Windows. Physically install the DVD player and it will be recognised, depending on what type of CD and DVD burning software you have your drive may not be recognised by them.
OEM burning software will only work with the optical drive it was supplied with, retail burning software should work with any drive.
